🐒💕 Robert Skinner's hilarious I'D RATHER NOT launched this week. It was, dare we say, one of the most memorable launches in recent times.
A camel train (of fake camels) made its way through the crowd while random guys peddled books by 'other Roberts' - it was a celebration of the absurd and the perfect way to send this gem of a read into the world.
On the night, Miles Franklin shortlist nominee Michael Winkler called it 'The funniest book ever written in Australia,' saying, 'The jokes all detonate in completely the right places. Robert's writing is underpinned by what it is to be alive on this planet at this moment.'
Don't just take our word for it (or Michael's for that matter)- grab your copy today and if your local bookstore hasn't got it on their shelves, tell them they simply must! 🐒💕

Huge congratulations to writer and journalist Lech Blaine, author of CAR CRASH: A MEMOIR and Quarterly Essay TOP BLOKES, who will join the Charles Perkins Centre as the 2023 Judy Harris Writer in Residence.
He will study the heart and the brain, and the ability of diet and exercise to improve the condition of both and will also contemplate the ethics of genetic editing and euthanasia.
In his own words, “The thing that always really stood out to me about the Judy Harris Writer in Residence Fellowship was this incredible opportunity to work with leading health experts and researchers, and the potential to create prose from that collaboration.”
“In my writing, I deal with some lofty topics, so to have experts and researchers around that don’t find conversations about tough subjects awkward or taboo is invaluable,” Blaine said. “It will be exciting to talk to them, strip away the stigma and soak up their insights and expertise. The fellowship is a totally mind-blowing honour. My gratitude is huge.
