As we rounded the point of southern Eleuthera, we lost all wind and it was so calm we could easily see the bottom at 10 feet!

On May 18, we passed the southern tip of Eleuthera and were in need of gas. Luckily there a great fuel dock in a nice protected harbor. Trash disposal and water were a bonus! Easy in and easy out!

Princess Cruise Line has a port of call at the south end of Eleuthera on Lighthouse Point with Disney moving in next door!

As we were sailing around the southern tip of Eleuthera, it was easy to spot the newest cruise port of call for Disney Cruise Line and their new Disney Resort! The resort was completed and expecting its first cruise ship in a few weeks. Construction was underway for a massive dock!

We could see it on the radar well before we sailed past!

Sometime in late May!

After we said goodby to our friend Evan in Cat Island, Ron and I headed north to Little San Salvador. This is a private island owned by Carnival cruise line where Half Moon Beach is located, which is a port of call. Upon arrival we call out on our VHF to the port manager to ask for permission to anchor and come ashore. we are allowed to go to shore once the cruise ship departs. It is such a pristine, beautiful beach, and we had all to ourselves.

Later that evening, another boat anchor next to us. I got some really good pictures of the space launch over their boat and wanted to share them so I reached out to them on the radio and they invited us over! It was an incredible show, and we made new friends!

We can not imagine riding out a CAT4 hurricane on our boat. This guy tied his boat up to the mangroves with a ton of lines then waited. Winds reached 90 knots and boats broke free and pushed him further into the mangroves. I have see the pics of all the boats that were on the “hard” (pulled out of the water and tied to on cement blocks). ”. but I never saw these pictures of boats sunk in the mangroves. So much damage. He is lucky to be alive!

Hello everyone!

Ron and I haven’t been posting a lot because we have been a bit preoccupied. Ron had a back surgery last November and started experiencing pain from that again mid May. When we got back to the USA in June, he headed to his Doctor and ended up having surgery about a week after we returned. Ron is now in recovery from the that surgery and will need one more.

I haven’t updated FB with our latest adventures since leaving Cat Island and making it to Eleuthera! Definitely have some photos from our time with Ken and Kelly on SV Crooked Anchor and our time with our friend Al that came to visit us! We have lots more pics and vid’s from the Bahamas to post!

Most YouTube sail videos are 4-5 months behind their actual travels, but as a Facebook poster, I feel bad when I’m not on top of it! Give me another few days and will be back at it. We have so much to share!

Interesting!!

The co-founder of OceanGate is planning a trip to one of the world’s deepest sinkholes.

Guillermo Söhnlein is set to lead an exploration into “Dean’s Blue Hole - an unexplored sinkhole that goes as far down as 663 feet located in the Bahamas.

Blue Marble Exploration, founded by Söhnlein after he left OceanGate, will offer the first submersible to reach the bottom of the sinkhole, where they’re set to operate “in complete darkness.”

The trip lists a number of challenges:

“‘What Lurks Beneath.’ Locals believe that Dean’s is a portal to hell and the Devil himself lurks in the black depths. Each year, several people drown in Dean’s due to a variety of misfortunes. We fully expect to find human remains and prepare to handle those situations with proper respect for the families.”

Besides Geaux Girl, do we have any boating friends in the Tampa area?

13/06/2024

I have a question for all of our boating friends with a boating FB page. Can you please tell me under which category you set your page up? This page is set up as a business, and it is not supposed to be a business. Facebook keeps asking me for my hours and other business related information. Is there anyway I can change it from a business page to just a regular page? Thank you in advance.

How slow are you willing to travel?!?!?

What a sail from Nassua to Key Largo it has been! 180 nautical miles!

The first 110 were so hot, flat and boring! We literally had no wind! Our wind vane wasn’t even spinning! We motored along at 5.5-6 knots for 20 hours.

We finally went through the last Bahamas cut and entered the Atlantic Ocean at which point we were heading across and somewhat into the Gulf Stream which slows us down and we also had a head wind. Our average speed since this morning at 5:30pm has been a whopping 2.8 knots!

The last 55 miles plus the 15 we have left will take right at 24 hours!! Now we are averaging 3.3 but the seas are rough and it feels like we are in a washing machine bouncing and churning!

We read books, watched downloaded movies, did puzzles, played cards, fished (nada), played guitar, worked on our boat “to do” list, and saw awesome sunsets and sunrises!!

CHECKOUT THESE SUNRISES AND SUNSETS!

I am about 3 weeks behind in posting our adventures but before losing signal, I would like to say thanks to our friend Al Conrad for sailing with us! He was able to bring us a part we desperately needed for our boat which raises the anchor!

We certainly had a lot of adventures, good food and drinks and fun during his visit!! here are a few pictures from his trip. We ddropped him off this morning in Nassau.

Thanks Al for a great time!! Pics have to wait as I lost connection to the cloud!!!
