More About Us

We see Heard Not Seen as a platform to freely vent and air (literally) frustrations and observations of what it is like to be a womxn in Namibia in 2018. We believe that change happens in and through conversations and we are about creating uninhibited (and fun) spaces to have the conversations we want with people who want (need!) them.

Paleni Amulungu is a self-described feminist and activist in Namibia always seeking for ways of new dialogue and equality. Paleni has worked in the Namibian media over the last ten years and is currently the Communications Lead for the AIDS and Rights Alliance for Southern Africa (ARASA). Her motto in life is - "Queening ain't easy, but it's necessary!"

Ndapwa Alweendo has found a home for her penchant for overthinking and having opinions in feminism. Having emerged from the world of academia, relatively unscathed and with an MSSc in Political and International Studies, she has worked in the media and civil society. She is currently a Research Associate at the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) where she puts her mind to issues ranging from gender equality to party finance. She is one-third of the Heard Not Seen podcast team: a trio of womxn who are just trying to figure out how to live their truth without losing their spirits!

Brigit Loots holds a MSc in Gender, Development and Globalization from the London School of Economics and currently works as a gender specialist consultant in Namibia, where she was born and raised. Brigit has contributed to National policy on gender; designed and led programmes on gender mainstreaming, male engagement and violence prevention and led the establishment of the national gender based violence toll-free helpline. Brigit is also a director of woman's rights organization Sister Namibia. She is into trying new things to disrupt the status quo. It’s really time!
