❗ Breaking ❗Truck with over 200 live 🐕 dogs intercepted in Indonesia

Over 200 live dogs were found crammed into the back of a 🚚 truck, tied up in bags, making them completely defenceless.
The driver held official paperwork issued by Indonesian authorities, which could mean a major setback in the efforts of the 🇮🇩 Indonesian government to combat the horrible dog meat trade across the country.

Unfortunately, at this point we do not have more information on the wellbeing of the rescued dogs. However, given our experience from previous interceptions, we must assume they are traumatised and are likely to be sick and injured.

In recent years, thanks to the efforts of Dog Meat Free Indonesia, of which we are a member, opposition has increased against the cruel dog meat trade in Indonesia. While only 7% of the Indonesian population consumes dog 🐕🍖meat, the trade causes a massive health risk for the entire country, as well as unnecessary animal suffering.

We urge the Indonesian authorities to thoroughly investigate this matter to establish whether this was the wrongdoing of an individual who approved the transportation of dogs for slaughter and confirm how this could have happened.
