That was a bit more than a shower, but we are glad we mentioned a chance of rain for this afternoon on Long Island. We saw about 0.25" of come down during the 4 PM hour (reported at LaGuardia Airport) as the bands of showers and rain moved across the island.

There are more showers and storms in sight, over the Great Lakes, that will be heading down across upstate New York over the next several hours. We could see that wet weather come down to the island overnight tonight into Thursday morning.

The days are getting shorter but in September, that drop is quite noticeable! September is where we see the most significant drop in daylight across the country. It is exceptionally noticeable in the northern part of the nation compared to the south.

We are going to be watching the radar for those overnight storms into tomorrow morning. They could last for your morning commute, so expect a potentially wet drive. The rest of the day should feature clouds and sun with a chance of a spot shower or two as well. Warm temps into the low 80's, so that's nice! Closing in on the weekend already! Crazy. -Glen

Notice some intense storms and rainfall moving through Pennsylvania! Lots of wind and rain associated with those. Some of the storms upstate and north of the Poconos have been intense as well. Modeling is hinting that those storms to our north will weaken and bring us some showers later. However, the types of storms you see in PA are what we could be looking at overnight. Maybe not as intense, but the same look from the north. -Glen

Notice those isolated shower chances this afternoon popping up... We will then watch to see if we get into more significant rain and storms later tonight and into tomorrow morning. The HRRR which I am posting here is hinting at it. As we saw with last night, these short term models don't always do the best with storms, so we will have to wait and see. I love these... People in the comments will tell me "Not to rush things." Keep in mind, if it's February... and I put a countdown out there for Memorial Day and July 4th, no one has a problem with that! 😉 lol Anywhooo.... We know Labor Day is right around the corner, but the three holidays that many people love aren't too far behind. These four months always go fast; it's after that when it drags a bit after the New Year. Obviously, we know with these countdowns, comes the cooler weather also. -Glen

I am really loving the look of Friday through Tuesday. Comfortable temperatures, low humidity and no rain. Really will be a nice change as we start to dig into September. Pretty safe to say the 90's are gone at this point and the 80's are going to start to dwindle also. Hope you're ready for a beautiful weekend! -Glen
