**🌀⚠️Storm Recap and Analysis⚠️🌀**

Storm is still here and wrapping up, but let’s talk about the outcome, here’s what verified with our forecast:
✅ 1-3” of rain (not heavy, but consistent light and moderate).
✅45-60 mph wind gusts (some places a tad under 40).
✅ Worst of winds between 8pm Sunday and 6am today.
✅Coastal flooding 1-2 feet or rise (this was our initial forecast before the NWS warning was issued) and we mentioned the worst cycles were gonna be midnight and during the day today.
✅ Start time of late morning on Sunday (rain started around 12:30pm).
✅ Scattered (not wide spread) power outages. 40,000 people lost power during this storm.
✅ Some, not a ton of downed trees and big limbs.
✅ Mentioned this possibility 7 days out.
What didn’t verify? I’d say the sustained winds were not the 20-25mph at all times during the storm. Some places in Nassau were lower than that. Also, some of the stronger winds in Nassau were more so during the day on Sunday. There were some heavier downpours at times, so that was nice to see and wasn’t sure how much that would be a factor.
We added about 2,000 new followers during this storm and YES it was a “storm.” It was a nor’easter and it was impactful. The strongest ever, no? Not even close…Did it impact your backyard like it did other people? No. But weather doesn’t care about your house, it does what it does and it always throws surprises. Other people CAN be impacted more than what’s at your house.
We are a big weather family on Long Island and especially on this page. So for those that were impacted directly, whether flooding in your home or street, loss of power, destruction to some property, I hope you recover quickly. For those that felt it was a windy/rainy two days…. GREAT! That’s great that’s all it was! 🙂
It was nice to have a storm to forecast again and was nice to see the “Islandwide family” be so active on our page. 100’s of messages, thousands of comments, picture and video submissions etc. For those that were disappointed and wanted this to be a hurricane, not sure what to say other than… I’m sorry?
If we get a tropical system or a blizzard soon, you know we’ll be on top of it. Starting tomorrow, we go look for the next weather impact and we’ll track it like we always do. For the new followers, we post multiple times daily! Welcome to the family and I hope you love it here. Thanks, all! Tomorrow is a better day for weather. -Glen
