Disney Genie+ is changing on July 24.
And while Disney has released some details about what to expect, there will be many unknowns as we wait for the system to roll out.
Some of the biggest strategy questions we’ll want answered are:
❓Which Lightning Lanes will sell out fastest?
❓And how quickly will they sell out?
Only July 24 and lots and lots of user data can answer this for us (thanks @thrilldata!)
But in the meantime, we can use current Lightning Lane sell out data to help us make predictions about which Lightning Lanes will be most popular under the new system.
These six Lightning Lanes have sold out the fastest at Walt Disney World over the past 30 days.
⚡️Did you know that the Wish Upon a Planner team spends weeks in Disney World testing out any new major change to the parks, such as this new Lightning Lane change?
⚡️ We’ll be in Walt Disney World for an extended trip starting July 24 to study the new system and test out new Lightning Lane strategies.
⚡️ And, of course, we’ll use this on-the-ground knowledge, combined with aggregate user data, to update our Genie+ Mastery Mini-Course to the “Lightning Lane Masterclass” so that you don’t miss a beat on your next Disney vacation.
If you already own the Mini-Course, these updates will appear on your dashboard as soon as they’re uploaded. We’ll also be doing live updates when the system changes over, for those heading to the parks that week.
If you’d like to get access to the new Masterclass, comment MASTERY so that you’re ready to go once the new Lightning Lane updates drop!
If you’d Lightning Lane updates drop!
Everyone deserves to feel like a Disney princess (or prince) every once in a while 👑
And what’s more royal than skipping past long lines at Walt Disney World?
Genie+ is a paid service at Disney that allows you to reserve Lightning Lanes to bypass the longer standby lines.
Which is obvs amazing (minus the whole “paid service” part… 🥴).
So if you’re going to pay for that royal treatment, it’s important that you also know how to use your Genie powers.
That’s why we created the Genie+ Mastery Mini-Course.
Our Genie+ Mastery Mini-Course will teach you everything you need to know to book, hack, stack, and actually get those coveted Lightning Lane times on your trip to Walt Disney World - so that you and your fam get the royal treatment all. day. long.

Brace yourselves (and your wallets), the next not-so-busy season is coming up at Walt Disney World! 🥳
Our team at Wish Upon a Planner can strategize our way to minimal/no waits even in the busiest seasons at Disney World.
But when we have our choice of when we go to WDW, we choose a slow season.
Why?
Everything can be more relaxed during a slow season. It’s easier to catch a bus AND grab a seat. Walkways are easier to navigate (we have some fast walkers on our team…). Genie+ Lightning Lanes sell out much later in the day. Lines, in general, are just shorter. The list goes on and on.
Do we still need to strategize?
We still do! Even the slow season sees average waits creep up over an hour for some of the more popular attractions.
Checking a crowd calendar and choosing a slow season is just one of the ways you can set yourself up for success when planning your Walt Disney World vacation.
If you want access to allllll our secrets, tips, strategies, and video guidance, our best selling Complete Parks Strategy Playbook is for you.

Just missed your Lightning Lane window? This Disney secret can help.
That’s right, if you’re a few minutes early or late to your Lightning Lane reservation, the Disney system will allow you to scan in with no fuss from the machinery or cast members.
However, if you’re too early or late, the system will not let you scan in, so don’t let your guard down too much 😵💫
Genie+ can be complicated and is filled with many unspoken rules like this one.
🧞♂️Our Genie+ Mastery Mini-Course will teach you everything you need to know to book, hack, stack, and ACTUALLY GET those coveted Lightning Lane times on your trip to Walt Disney World - so that your fam is skipping the lines alllllllllll day long.

Our #1 goal here at Wish Upon a Planner? To help Disney-goers skip the long lines and get to do all the rides & experiences on their wishlist.
And even when the parks are packed - you can still get a lot done. You just need a solid plan (re: strategy!).
✏️ Strategy is what ensures you're minimizing time in lines as much as possible—and freeing up HOURS a day (yes, I'm talking up to 4 hours of less waiting) for those other magical moments in between.
The average Disney guest? They'll spend over 5 hours in lines a day, especially during the upcoming busy seasons. 😟
But our readers using our data-driven strategies?
No average wait over 15 minutes all. day. long. 😎
There's a lot of great Disney content out there, and we would never tell anyone to stop reading their favorite blogs or binging their favorite YouTubers.
But—you need a strategy and a park itinerary for your trip that are fully research-backed. Which is what we've been doing since 2017.
And that's what keeps you out of long lines, friends.

Disney World during Christmas…it’s crowded. 😵💫
While a vacation to Florida during the holiday break is exciting, it’s not too exciting if you find yourself in 75-minute average lines, eating only chicken fingers cause you couldn’t score any table-service reservations, and you have to tell your kiddo you can’t ride the Slinky Dog coaster because all the Lightning Lanes are sold out and the standby wait is 2.5 hours for a 3-minute ride…
While it can be harder to plan for the busy seasoxns at Walt Disney World, it’s not impossible.
We’ve broken down a couple of our favorite tips in this post here.
However, there is SO MUCH that goes into creating the perfect strategy to minimize stress and time spent in line.
We’ve put ALLLLLLLLL the tips, along with helpful videos, itineraries, flow charts, and more in our Strategy Playbook to help you breeze past the lines. Our customers over 6-years report saving over 5 HOURS a day during busy weeks like Christmas with our digital guide. You can too. Don’t go in without a data-driven plan.

❓Can Hollywood Studios be a challenging park to plan for? Yes.
❓Can we make it easier by studying the Lightning Lane sell-out order? Also yes.
Let’s dig into recent Lightning Lane sellout times at Hollywood Studios!
Luckily, things have eased up at this park since Tower of Terror is running both sides again and Lightning Lanes in general are not selling out at speed they used to.
Still, Hollywood Studios remains a tricky park to tour since there are multiple headliners here that pack the line for a high wait time.
If you’re going to Hollywood Studios, we recommend Genie+ – and we recommend knowing exactly how to use it vs. walking in blind. Don’t spend all that money on it to only get 2-3 rides out of it!

Genie+ is expensive, so you don’t want to be that person using it all wrong. 😬
While you CAN use it effectively and save literal hours waiting in line (have we mentioned we highly recommend G+ for Magic Kingdom?), you can also use it wrong giving you little to no time savings.
And boy can you use it all wrong.
We’re talking about prioritizing a low/no wait ride causing you to miss out on a Lightning Lane for a ride with average waits over an hour!
The worst offenders at the Magic Kingdom are listed in this video. In low/medium wait days, these guys should be walk ons or short waits.
If you have some high wait attractions on your to-do list, then we do not recommend putting these anywhere near your top (or even medium) priority list.
Armed with the right information, and you can save yourself literal HOURS in time and avoid frustration trying to navigate the parks.
We created the Genie+ Mastery mini-course to help vacationers maximize their Genie+ purchase.
It’s packed with step-by-step videos and screenshare tutorials so you can arrive at the parks with boss-level knowledge on how to get the absolute most out of Genie+ and score Lightning Lanes all day long for your group.

That’s right, Walt Disney World has a secret, and we’re about to spill the beans.
While Disney may post official start times to Early Entry, the parks often open up to 30 minutes BEFORE Early Entry’s official start time.
Why does this matter?
If you’re looking to knock out a couple of big name attractions first thing in the morning, this means you’ll want to arrive at the parks at least 30 minutes BEFORE the start of Early Entry. This ensures you’re already in line for security once the park begins scanning people in.
You don’t have to ride rides for this tip to apply to you. Want to grab that sweet, sweet Main Street USA Starbucks coffee without the long wait? Or want some strategic, crowd-free photos near a park landmark? This is the perfect time to do this.
When we were in EPCOT last September, we arrived at the park 45 minutes before Early Entry was officially set to start and immediately scanned through security. We waited near the entrance to World Showcase until around 25 minutes before Early Entry start time. At that time, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure’s queue opened. We rode that, took some crowd-free photos, and walked to Soarin’ all BEFORE Early Entry “officially” started. Definitely worth it.
Tips like this can save you hours of time spent waiting in line. You could spend even more hours searching the internet for (often) outdated tips and advice, ORRRRRR you can lean on some help from the professionals.
Wish Upon a Planner offers strategy guides, insider tips, and data-driven itineraries to help you minimize time spent waiting in line while maximizing fun.
