The Zimbabwean Music Hour features both traditional and contemporary music from the Shona culture of Zimbabwe, with influence from other peoples in the South African region. Most music is played on the traditional mbira (thumb piano) or the marimba (a type of wooden xylophone). Many bands and artists also add vocals, hosho—a type of gourd shaker—drums and other percussion, as well as some western instruments like the guitar, bass, and even the accordion!
