OU Giving day is here!!
Everyone who knows me knows I love stories. As a psychologist, I know that profound healing comes from sharing and receiving others' stories.
It should come as no surprise that one of the best parts of my job is serving as the Associate Director of the Barbara Geralds Institute for Storytelling and Social Impact. The Insitute is a center for training students, conducting research, and engaging communities in celebrating and showcasing stories that deserve wider audiences.
On a personal note, Andrew's story lives on long after cancer claimed him--in part because the community, university, and Storytelling Institute mobilized around us during that difficult time, painted murals for kids with cancer, connected him to Turn It Gold, wrote book chapters about his story, created cards and artwork from his drawings at Passion Works Studio....
I can't think of a more meaningful endeavor than centering, celebrating, and showcasing the rich stories and experiences of others. To show my support, I've donated to the Storytelling Institute on Giving Day (Andrew did, too—check out the donor list!).
On this Giving Day, I encourage you to contribute to this meaningful cause using the link below. Every donation matters--and will grow! A Lead Donor has committed to matching dollar-for-dollar donations up to $2,500.00. Another Lead Donor will contribute $2,500 once 25 donations of any amount have been received. Here's the link that will send your contribution directly to the Storytelling Institute. THANK YOU for considering.
