I'm thrilled for Jim Downing and his induction into the IMSA Hall of Fame. A great racer -- proving what a privateer could do. One of the men behind the Hans device. The first place I ever rented shop space was from Jim. It was his original shop in a sleepy part of Atlanta. He'd long outgrown it and had moved on. He probably could have sold it or rented it out for a lot more to others but he rented it out to a few of us SCCA racers. Many of the fab tools were left behind and a little rough around the edges but still usable. I built this car there in the late 90's.

I woke up Monday morning to an email that I had to read several times to make sure my brain wasn't playing tricks on me. My "Inside the SCCA" Podcast is the 2023 National Motorsports Press Association Best Podcast. This is the Oscars for motorsports journalism in the US.

The other podcasts in the category focused on NASCAR, IndyCar, and F1.

It is such an honor to be recognized by my peers for a piece of work that is 100% produced, directed, engineered and hosted by me.

Congratulations to the 2023 SCCA Rookie of the Year Morgan Burkhard!!! He's also racing on the Rolex 24 weekend at Daytona in the Michelin Pilot Challenge in a Hyundai TCR! And... he won the 2023 Inside the SCCA Gee Dubb Henderson Award of Excellence at the Runoffs. Morgan was on the show last fall... here's the link.

As I sit here in the Tampa airport, waiting to head back to LA. I have a few minutes to reflect on the opening rounds of this year super tour. A couple of things struck me. First of all, the insanely tight competition. Wins at the finish line in almost every race throughout the weekend. Second, the level of race craft displayed in very, very challenging conditions. Next, the number of young drivers, utilizing the super tour as a steppingstone to bigger and greater things. Reminds me of the SCCA of old. The last thing, is a remarkable uptick in social media from our partners, teams, and drivers. Maybe the days of the secret car club of America are coming to an end.

Podcast update... Back in October we launched the rebranded RacingWire Podcast Network with the Inside the SCCA podcast. Its success has been overwhelmingly awesome. Since that time we have grown in listeners every month -- we're projecting in excess of 36,000 listeners and views this year.
We have also added the Inside ChampCar podcast and the race broadcasts from the Hoosier SCCA Super Tour events.
Now we're launching the RacingWire Network on YouTube.
The content starts with the Inside the SCCA Podcasts but the goal will be to add live race coverage of both on track and E-sports events.
Of course -- it begins and ends with subscribers and likes. Please give the first episode a watch -- and click the subscribe and like buttons.

Nikita Mazepin acts like he's just an athlete being punished for something he has nothing to do with. The money that allows him to go racing is Putin blood money. His dad... who runs the company that sponsored Haas F1... is an Oligarch who is buddy buddy with with Vladimir Putin. Mazepin's only chance of keeping that ride was to vehemently and often denounce the war as wrong. That's something he's had a week to do and chose not to.
