There was a non-race related incident at the Runoffs and a member of our race family needs our help. Mike West had a medical emergency at the track, fell and hit his head. It left him with a traumatic brain injury. He's been in Wisconsin hospitals since the Runoffs and in the near future he'll be ready for transfer to a facility nearer to his Memphis home. Insurance doesn't cover the air ambulance and the bills for his wife and his family to be with him in Wisconsin are piling up.
I first met Mike two years ago when I joined the Super Tour traveling circus. I quickly learned how talented he was dealing with the various challenges that pop up as a race director of a national touring series. Even more important... over the last two years I've learned Mike is top notch human being.
His family has started a Go-Fund-Me.
I always tell my non-racing friends how I started racing for the cars and I stay for the people. I share how much I love my racing family... it's time to us take care of one of our own.
