PDP DARES AKPABIO ON CORRUPTION ALLEGATIONS
..Perish the Thought of Taking Akwa Ibom State in 2027

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has told the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio to perish the thought of taking over control of Akwa Ibom State in 2027 as the scheme to use false claims and inciting comments to destabilize the State has already failed.

The Party counsels the Senate President to come to terms with the fact that the people of Akwa Ibom State are firmly rooted in the PDP as a peaceful and united people blessed by God especially under the immediate past and current administration. They cannot be swayed by any agent of disunity, incitement, hatred and retrogression whose intention is to use propaganda and hate speeches to derail and appropriate the State for selfish interest.

The boast by Senator Akpabio to take over Akwa Ibom State in 2027 is not only pathetically empty but further exposes his level of arrogance and disdain for the sensibility, intelligence, democratic right and sovereignty of the people of Akwa Ibom State.

Our Party advises Senator Akpabio to leave Akwa Ibom State alone and focus on the challenges of his office as Senate President which is alleged to be engaged in process manipulation and sharp practices including alleged budget padding and diversion of public funds.

Senator Akpabio should address the allegations in the public domain that a prominent official of the National Assembly in connivance with another top official in the Presidency have been using ministers and other government functionaries to siphon billions of Naira including funds meant for palliatives for poor Nigerians under the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

Nigerians can recall that there are pending investigations before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegation of looting of N108.1 billion belonging to Akwa Ibom State under Senator Akpabio’s watch as Governor as well as alleged N86 billion contract scam in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) during his tenure as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.

These are funds belonging to and meant for the welfare of the people of Akwa Ibom State and the Niger Delta Region and our Party challenges the Senate President to immediately come clean and clear the air on these allegations, especially given the sanctity of the office which he now occupies.

Senator Akpabio should note that the office of the Senate President does not confer any form of immunity on him from investigation and/or prosecution. In any event, he must know that time does not run against the State in criminal matters.

Senator Akpabio should as a matter of public duty concentrate on attending to the plethora of allegations of corruption around him to justify the respect and integrity expected of the occupier of the office of the Senate President.

The PDP urges the people of Akwa Ibom State to disregard Senator Akpabio’s antics and remain united in their determination to continue to build their State under the banner of the PDP.

GOVERNOR UMO ENO ORDERS DESILTING OF DRAINAGES ALONG ATIKU ABUBAKAR AVENUE

Umoh-obong Kingsley

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has ordered immediate removal of silts on the Atiku Abubakar Avenue in Uyo.

He gave the directive on Saturday during a visit to the flooded portion of the area for an on-the-spot assessment of the waterlogged area.

Pastor Eno directed the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency (AKSEPWMA), Prince Akpan Ikim, to immediately desilt the drainages on the Avenue and its environs to ensure the smooth flow of rainwater.

Prince Ikim noted that the intervention on the Atiku Abubakar flood was in line with the ARISE Agenda of Pastor Umo Eno, who is passionate about clean and safe environment where citizens and residents can live happily and do their businesses.

He however appealed to residents of the area to desist from the habit of dumping refuses in unauthorised places, clogging of drains with silt, erecting or building structures within and around drainage right of ways.

Residents, business owners and motorists of the area who were visibly elated, applauded the State Governor for the political will to put an end to their years of agony and anguish caused by the flood menace.

They expressed gratitude to the State Government for the intervention plan to lift their plights, noting that they have been going through excruciating experiences caused by the flood in the area for over two decades.

According to them, "We have tried under individual and community efforts for years, but we could not make any headway. Our businesses are affected and as it is now, every business has been shut down, but thank God for Pastor Umo Eno's administration for coming to our aide."

AS UDOM EMMANUEL RETURNS TO AKWA IBOM FOR THE DIALOGUE

Barr. Stephen Abia

One generation plants a tree, another picks the fruits and enjoys the shades it provides. This analogy best describes the strategic Akwa Ibom Dialogue event where former governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel is billed to declare open. By this dialogue, Pastor Umo Eno has answered the call of prosperity which Mr Udom Emmanuel dialled.

The event will also provide an opportunity for the ARISE Agenda, the economic and prosperity compass of the Pastor Umo Eno administration to be formally launched for the people of Akwa Ibom State.

The thrust of the Akwa Ibom Dialogue is to provide a formidable platform for experts across fields to make informed and professional contributions to the ARISE Agenda of the present administration. The critical and crucial components of the ARISE Agenda is centered on prosperity through agriculture, economic growth, entrepreneurship development, agriculture, rural development, education, healthcare repositioning and general well-being of the people.

As Akwa Ibom Dialogue brings all the relevant experts and stakeholders to sit and explore ways of addressing the peculiar needs of the people and adding value to their endeavours, it is apt and fitting that the Government of the State rightly settled on the immediate-past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel as the special guest of honour.

Mr Udom Emmanuel had deliberately laid an impressive foundation for the economic upliftment of Akwa Ibom State through his industrial initiatives that have since changed the economic narratives of Akwa Ibom State.
Today, several industries are working in the State, generating employment with attendant boost and boom.

Chief among such industrial revolution of the Udom Emmanuel administration is the Ibom Air where Mr Emmanuel has been largely hailed for achieving such high altitude feat even as a sub-national; a feat successive administrations in Nigeria often struggle in vain to accomplish.
Today, Ibom Air can pass for the highest revenue earner for the State with prospects of being a leader in the sector in Africa, especially with the inauguration of other components of the Victor Attah International Airport such as the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul, MRO section and the international terminal building. By such well-thought out economic initiatives of Mr Udom Emmanuel across various sectors of the economy, he had dialled a line to put a call across to prosperity and wealth creation for the State, a call that could not be rejected.

With the launching of this great initiative of Akwa Ibom Dialogue by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, it is only safe to say that Pastor Umo Eno's Dialogue is an answer to a dial which Mr Udom Emmanuel painstakingly and contra-myopically dialled in his time as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
Therefore, his choice as Special Guest to flag-off the event is a home-coming for a progenitor of economic reliance whose formidable foundation is the economic skyscraper which Pastor Umo Eno is poised to erect for the people of Akwa Ibom State as encapsulated in the ARISE Agenda.

The dialogue will therefore be a melting pot for earthmoving ideas that will bring out the best of the ARISE Agenda and provide the economic and entrepreneurial roadmap for the State.
It is only necessary for the citizens who are vested in the respective areas to contribute their quota for the development and progress of Akwa Ibom State.
The good thing is that the gains and glory will be given to Akwa Ibom State and not any individual. Everytime everyone has opportunity to add value to the State, names should not matter but Akwa Ibom should be the overriding interest.
Just like Mr Udom Emmanuel played his part and departed, another good hand is on the saddle, and deserves all the cooperation devoid of petty sentiments across tribes, political parties and gender. Mr Udom Emmanuel's coming is a big plus for a dialogue that will converge experts. An expert has come to charge experts.

He dialed the number for development, which was still ringing, and Pastor Umo Eno has answered the call for the good of Akwa Ibom State. Akwa Ibom State is rising like the sun on a bright and beautiful morning. The end will be worth it because like they say, the beauty of sunset is a proof that the end is always beautiful.
The Akwa Ibom dialogue is set to unlock more and more opportunities for the State. What an excellent way to welcome the former governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel to the State. Indeed Akwa Ibom dialogue is a masterstroke of Governor Umo Eno.

GOV UMO ENO DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY ON PRIMARY EDUCATION
..Orders Immediate Remodelling Of CKS Primary School, Ors.

Public Primary Schools in Akwa Ibom State are in for better days as Governor Umo Eno has directed immediate renovation and upgrade of facilities in primary institutions beginning with Christ The King Primary School, Wellington Bassey Way. Uyo.

Christ the King Primary School, CKS, which is to serve as a model of the state government's vision for primary education, would be upgraded to standard with the renovation of structures, provision of educational materials, solar lights, pipe borne water and staff quarters .

In line with the rural development thrust of his administration's A.R.I.S.E. Agenda, the governor said besides replicating the model in schools in the rural areas, the state government will provide special incentives for teachers in rural and riverine areas to encourage teachers perform maximally in those communities.

Governor Eno gave the directives when he embarked on an unscheduled inspection of facilities at Christ the King Primary School, Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo.

The Governor, while inspecting the facilities also interacted with staff and pupils of the school to gather firsthand information on their welfare, saying it's better to catch the school children young.

"Akwa Ibom elected me to serve them, to work for them. We are delivering on the campaign promises we made to Akwa Ibom people. Education is a key thing in the A.R.I.S.E. Agenda and so we are determine, especially at the grassroots level. The grassroot level in Education begins with the primary school.

"This school is next to Government house. So it should be a model. We want to start here to create that model primary school we're talking about. I have just interacted with the pupils, they are vacating on the 28th, we will use that holiday to remodel this school, working very hard with the Ministry of Housing, the Architect and the rest.

"I believe we should invest in this Children, and this is when to catch them young. School renovated will have teachers resident there. I will give them a little allowance to encourage them, particularly in the rural communities. I want to go to those riverine communities, and for teachers that are posted there, we will encourage them", he assured.

He spoke with nostalgia on the good old days when accommodation was provided for teachers within a school vicinity, maintaining that the arrangement was a morale booster to enhanced their efficiency as the teachers had a strong grasp of the children in character and learning and therefore restated his commitment to bringing back the glory days of basic education by providing the necessary facilities and enhanced security.

"This will be the first for the primary schools on what I think a model primary school should look like. I want to get teachers back to school and to live in the school. It will help maintain discipline. I have even started a commitment with the Head Mistress and she has promised that if provided with necessary facilities, they will live here. I remember the compound Master of those days and other key position holders in the schools used to live within the school premises.

"We will provide security for them. I have asked the SSG to ensure that they employ people from this community immediately. If they have four, two in the day and two at night that will ensure adequate security, and that's what we intend to do across the state.

"I believe we should invest in this Children, and this is when to catch them young. Schools renovated will have teachers resident there. I will give them a little allowance to encourage them, particularly in the rural communities. I want to go to those riverine communities, and for teachers that are posted there, we will encourage them", he stated.

The Governor directed the Ministry of Housing to expedite action on the remodeling of the school to fit it with solar lighting system for all round power supply and other facilities within three months.

Impressed with the dutiful Headmistress, Mrs Eme Joseph Bassey and the comportment of the pupils during their exams, Governor Eno directed the immediate and special promotion of the Headmistress, warning that she should not be posted out of the school.

In her interaction with newsmen from Government House, the overtly excited Headmistress, Mrs Eme Bassey, thanked the Governor for the visit, stating that despite the proximity of the school to Government House, no governor has ever visited the school to know its challenges.

Mrs Bassey expressed appreciation on the decision of the state administration to remodel the institution, saying that God has used the occasion of the inspection visit to elevate her on the profession and expressed appreciation to the Governor for the special promotion given her.

THANK YOU VISIT: GOV ENO PLEDGES TO REWARD EVERY LOCAL GOVT WITH PROJECTS

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has assured that the landscape of every Local Government Area across the state would be dotted with people oriented and development projects as a token of appreciation for the support garnered during the election culminating in his emergence as Governor of the State.

Governor Eno gave the assurance Wednesday, when he met the people of Ikot Expene Senatorial District in a Thank-You-Visit at the country home of the Political Leader of the district, Chief Michael Afangide , OON, at Ikot Umo Essien, Essien Udim Local Government Area.

He said considering the exigency of his office, he would not be able to visit every local government to register appreciation but would translate such gesture to capacity building and development projects initiated in all the local government areas of the state.

"We have come here today, standing in Annang Land, using our father, Obong Afangide as a point of contact to show our appreciation to Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.

We thank you for your solidarity and support during the campaign. Thank you for presenting yourselves to be used by God to bring us to where we are today.

"It is by God's grace that we are here as a delegation of the Akwa Ibom State Government, the Deputy, SSG and other elected office holders. We may not be able to go round from local Government to Local Government for the thank you visit but may do that through project flag off and project commissioning.

"It is good and preferable that we gather like this from time to time across the senatorial districts to thank everyone. If we want to go round from local Government to Local Government, time will fail us because we need time to work.

"We need to reserve time for the jobs you voted us into office because at the end of our tenure, you will not judge us by the number of people and Local Governments we visit but by the number of projects and positive developments that we give to our people. On this note, let me appeal to you, if you come to my office and can not see me, please don't be angry, just bear with us", he stated.

Governor Eno said that he is armed with the promises made during the electioneering campaign days and sued for patience to enable him constitute the State Executive Council within the month, explaining that the projects would be executed interministerally for proper supervision.

He thanked Mr Aniekan Ekwere for painstakingly compiling the promises and pledged his commitment to deliver on the promises to assuage the yearnings of the people .

"Gathered here today are the representatives of all the ten local Government Areas of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District. Please take this message of Thanksgiving home and make sure that you extend it to all our supporters across party lines.

“Tell them that we are very grateful for their supports and for standing by us during the period we needed them.

"I assure you that you will see a greater thank you in the projects that we will do in your local Government areas. With me here is the compilation of all our promises during the campaign according to different needs and requests of every local Government. I have received it today through Mr Aniekan Ekwere, and I must thank him very specially for this.

"He has compiled all these to represent the entire 31 local Government of the State. This is a clear prove that you followed us up and was acquainted with all the promises we made. We will compare it with the one we have in the office and respond to them accordingly, as God will help us to accomplish all.

"We will commence all the project as soon as we swear in our Commissioners. These jobs are critical jobs of different ministries. That is why we take time to put the foundation right because there is nothing the righteous can do if the foundation is destroyed.

" There is no part of this state across the 31 local Government Areas that my Government will not touch with positive and impactful project. We will extend it to the wards. We have a lot in the pipeline and God will help us to accomplish all.”

He particularly appreciated Obong Michael Afangide and all the Stakeholders for having stood by him and ensuring that they win the heart of the people to vote him massively into office , noting that their prayers and guidance contributed immensely to his success at the polls and reiterated his resolve to reciprocate the gesture with development projects in all the local government areas of the state.

"Let me appreciate very specially, Obong Afangide. He stood firmly by
us and encouraged the people from this Senatorial District to support us. I remember he prayed for us when we came for consultation and I am happy that God has honoured his grey hair and granted us success and victory.

"It is therefore deserving that we have come here to say thank you. Let's give honour to whom honour is due. It might not have been easy if he didn't support us.

"We also thank the Stakeholders and every person from Ikot Ekpene District for supporting us. I really believe and assure you that you will appreciate it more through developments and life touching projects.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Chairman Essien Udim Local Government Area, Mr. Anthony Luke Udoh, congratulated Pastor Umo Eno on his victory and extended the appreciation of Essien Udim people to the governor on the "Thank You visit".

He lauded the peace initiated by the previous administration and pledged the commitment of Essien Udim people to work with the Umo Eno led administration to further the peace.

Speaking on behalf of Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Bob while commending the people of Ikot Ekpene senatorial district for the role they played during the recently concluded polls, stated that the visit was a promise kept by the Governor having vowed to appreciate the people once elected into office.

Senator Emmanuel Ibok-Essien who represented the Stakeholders of the district thanked the Governor for keeping to his words and assured him of their unflinching support throughout his government.

Similarly, the immediate past deputy Governor of the state, Mr Moses Ekpo, thanked Governor Eno for the honour done them and assured him that the senatorial district will work assiduously to ensure that he has a smooth 8 years run and handover to Ikot Ekpene senatorial district after his eight years tenure.
