Heartland FC's vehicle was involved in an accident, resulting in the reported death of head coach Christian Onu while en route to Abakaliki for the Ifeanyi Ekwueme TICO/SELECT Pre Season Tournament.

The incident occurred in Umunna, near Okigwe, within Imo State.

The vehicle swerved to avoid an oncoming car and subsequently collided with another vehicle that had been carelessly parked following a prior accident.
