Coincidence
Laraaji + Agnes Martian + Music For Connection + Hair And Space Museum - ‘Coincidence’
Now available on cassette, as well as digitally.
“Coincidence is a record bursting with the joy of spontaneous creativity. Its long, improvised pieces never fall into a rut, and every minute of this album is delightfully different from the last. It is both an uncompromising demonstration of free and experimental spiritual jazz and a document attesting to the power of collaboration.” - Thomas Blake, KLOF Magazine
Co-released w/ Transitory Tapes and Working Name Studios …. because collaboration is key for this kind of art to grow and thrive. Ya dig?

The Milwaukee Taper comes through again! Last week Richard posted The Emergency Group Set from this year's MKE Psych Fest, and now he has posted The International Disassociation of Aaron Dooley and their explosive set. It's another fantastic sounding recording. The trumpet will shake your brain. Follow the link and check it out. And be sure to check out Richard's other recordings, particularly the Chris Forsyth and William Tyler sets.

Emergency Group at Reverberation Vinyl.
Made it to Reverberation Vinyl in Bloomington, Illinois yesterday just in time to catch the end of Luke Schneider‘s set. Aaron Dooley and his band hit the stage next and soared and were followed by a groove-laden set from Emergency Group (included here). The evening was brought down in thunderous fashion by Bitter Wish.
Got to see some familiar faces. And met lots of new ones. Grateful for it all. John runs an incredible shop, fosters community, and supports independent music like no other store I’ve seen. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Headed off to Milwaukee next. Check the stories on IG for lots more videos over the course of the next couple days, including a few more from last night.
Really glad to be on this journey w/ Kevin Coleman. His playing and music is always evolving and taking different creative directions. I was committed to working with him after seeing him a couple of times and was floored when I heard the ‘Imaginary Conversations’ demos. This ain’t your typical finger pickin’, folks. Lend your ear if you already haven’t.

to the Jack Silverman Quartet. If you’re familiar with the label, then you’re likely familiar with Jack Silverman as a member of the Nashville Luke Ambient Ensemble and as a prolific guitarist whom plays with a wide variety of creative folks in the Nashville music community, including this stellar lineup.
Many thanks to Jack Silverman for trusting me with this project.
Jack and company will be celebrating the release of Prince of Shadows on March 16th at The Blue Room at Third Man Records.

🎶Patrick Sansone - “Press to Null”The cover for Patrick Sansone’s ‘Infinite Mirrors’ is a photo from John Pfahl (1939-2020). It’s titled Great Salt Lake Angles and was taken at Great Salt Lake, Utah. Pfahl was well-known for his innovative landscape photography, particularly his series Altered Landscapes (1974-1978), in which he utilized the optics of the camera to manipulate a viewer’s sense of perspective by placing human made objects within a landscape. Patrick, a photographer himself, received the book from a good friend and was immediately drawn to this photo. As he recalls, he heard a voice that told him “this is the cover to your album.”Fittingly, the clips in this video are also from the Great Salt Lake, which is currently in danger of drying up past the point of no return. Pfahl would certainly be disappointed to know this, as his later work emphasized humankind’s devastating effects on the environment. ‘Infinity Mirrors’ releases March 1st. “With this incantatory live recording, Myrrors create a sound that feels drawn out of the soil. Drone calls, avant-squall, swells of devotional psychedla—whatever you want to call this music, it’s entrancing and spiritually voluminous, rising and falling in majestic arcs, soundtracking an imaginary Herzog documentary playing exclusively in your mind’s eye.” —Jason P. Woodbury
The demand was high for the Altered States edition of The Myrrors’ ‘Live at Exploded View’, so Dave at Cardinal Fuzz and I got the band to design a new sleeve and will be put a small repress up for sale on March 1.
They’ll go quickly, likely going up around 8:30AM west coast time. Combine with other new releases of the day (Patrick Sansone & Jack Silverman) and save on shipping.
If you’re in the UK, check with Cardinal Fuzz about when they’ll go up for sale on March 1.

On Friday night fiddle maestro John Mailander (who has worked extensively w/ the likes of Bruce Hornsby, Molly Tuttle, and Billy Strings) will join Jack Silverman and Quartet at The Dive Motel in Nashville. It’ll be fun to see John get heady in the mix of things. 7-10 PM. Free. Tip well. And tip often.
News is coming soon about the Prince of Shadows album release show. Stay tuned!
The first lineup announcement for this year’s Milwaukee Psych Fest has been made. And it’s 🔥🔥🔥.
See you in Milwaukee!
Thanks to Jesse Jarnow and his Frow Show on WFMU for giving the Jack Silverman Quartet a spin last night. And 🙏🏼 to Tom Tom the Pipers Son for nailing the vibe. Preorder at the Bandcamp.
And do note the fine disparate company in that set… Robyn Hitchcock covering some Syd Barrett, as well as some free jazzing Zusaan Kali Fasteau.
