A special announcement on the future of the Show.

As you all would be well aware, we have not posted a new episode since January this year when we put up our first part of the 2021 Year in Review.

Not long after this, we attempted to record the second part, but due to some technical difficulties, we lost the file. Over the years of the podcast, we’d been pretty lucky, losing a few part eps that we could easily re-do, but never a whole episode. By the time we realised it was lost it was too late that night to re-do, so we agreed to catch up the following week to record again.

But as it has a tendency to do, life got in the way, and by the time we both had a free night to catch up and record again, I decided that mid February was probably a bit late to be discussing 2021 films, so we scrapped the idea and planned to move on to our next show topic.

Unfortunately, somewhere between I realised I’d lost my podcasting mojo. Part of the love of the podcast for me was not just talking about the latest game we’d been playing, or watching a crazy Xmas special, but actually getting together with Mitch to play or watch together before getting to chat about it. Something that is immensely more difficult now I’ve moved to a totally different state. I’d also began to realise I wasn’t actually enjoying most of the media I was consuming, so making interesting content discussing it was also getting harder, so I decided it might be time to take a little break.

During that break I found it harder and harder to justify the podcast. Yes, I’ve had fun along the way talking up the stuff we did cover, I really think the Ska, and One Hit wonders episodes were some of the best ones we’ve done, and I also love our Christmas Specials despite the extra work editing a daily show for a couple of weeks, but I think my passion for podcasting is done.

So that being said, I’ve made the decision to leave The Massive Attack Podcast. Mitch is still deciding if he wants to keep going as a solo show, or maybe find another co-host, so keep subscribed to the feed as there could be exciting new content coming your way. I also want to add a big thanks to everyone who supported the show in its current format.

It's topical now Ghostbusters is back in cinemas that we look at The Real Ghostbusters cartoon to wrap up our 12 Days, but really it's that damn good why wouldn't we??

We'd like to think we've saved the best for last with this offering for Day 12 from the cartoon series "The Real Ghostbusters" from 1986. What happens with a team famous for catching ghosts meet up with Jacob Marley and his spirit friends? Christmas chaos obviously.

As kids, all we knew of Vincent Price was that he was that guy on Thriller. Long before that he was actually the narrator in this TV special from 1949 called "The Christmas Carol".

In one of the very first syndicated television specials, Vincent Price narrates today's version of the classic tale, dubbed "The Christmas Carol" from way back in1949.

Ross Kemp is famous for playing a tough on Eastenders, and his hard hitting journalism. He also played Eddie Scrooge in this 2000 version of "A Christmas Carol" we both kinda dug.

We've had some strange ones, some good ones and some down right bad ones, but today for Day 9 the 1982 animated A Christmas Carol just might be the most traditional one. Except maybe the boy in the toga for Christmas Past.

Rowan Atkinson turns the tables on the classic Dickens story for Day 8 of our Christmas Carol minis, as we look at the 1988 "Blackadder's Christmas Carol".

80's cartoon/toy tie-ins are probably our favourite genre after Christmas Carol variations, so when Mitch found this episode from 1987 of "Bravestarr" that puts a Filmation spin on the Dickens classic, it got added to our short list very quickly. Was it worth it, or did it disappoint?

Quantum Leap was one of those shows where, in concept, sounded like something we both would have been into back when it originally aired, yet for some reason neither of us really watched. Today for Day 5 we rectify that with this episode, "A Little Miracle" from 1990.

Crazy Nic Cage gives this one a few pluses, but cartoon mice and s**t songs are a definate minus as for Day 4 we watched A Christmas Carol - The Movie from 2001.

Today we go a little more recent and lot more traditional than yesterday with this animated version of A Christmas Carol from 2001. Having Nicholas Cage as Marley seemed like a good choice, but is that overshadowed by too much backstory and the addition of cartoon mice?

We discussed our love for "Rowdy" Roddy Piper back for our R episode, so when Mitch found a version of A Christmas Carol from 1985 with him playing Scrooge we just had to cover it in this year's 12 Days Of A Christmas Carol 2: Ebenezer Boogaloo.

On paper, the idea of wrestling legend "Rowdy" Roddy Piper taking on the role of Scrooge in a WWF produced version of "A Christmas Carol" sounds great. Unfortunately this segment from the short lived wrestling talk show "Tuesday Night Titans" from December 1985 really didn't deliver.

Who would have thought that a Novel written in Victorian England would some 170 years later go on to inspire an episode of a cartoon about a boy with spider-like abilities, but here we are on Day 2 for Ultimate Spider-Man "Nightmare on Christmas" from 2014.

We jump forward just over 100 years from yesterday to bring you Day 2, and this time we look an an episode of Ultimate Spider-Man from 2014 called "Nightmare on Christmas" that took inspiration from A Christmas Carol, rather than being a direct re-telling.
