Francesco Passantino & Friends – Venticinque EP (Tractorecords)**

We are pleased to announce that on June 20th, a limited edition 180g vinyl with a colored cover will be released, with only 150 copies available. To mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of his recording career, Francesco Passantino revives the Tractorecords label, which has been dormant since 2016.

Journalist Giosuè Impellizzeri reviewed the EP:

"In this EP, the DJ from La Spezia, but who has been based in Berlin for many years, brings together the various facets that have colored his career as a producer over the last quarter century, starting with “Vision”, a cloud of soft pads overlaid with a rhythmic skeleton and background voices, apparently captured from some radio left on by accident. Recorded live at Club Der Visionaere last summer with Daniele Ricca and Francesco Monaco, with whom Passantino forms the Resilience Groove, the track encapsulates the most rarefied minimalism mixed with dub bubbles. With “Undici” however, the sound palette changes and with it also the rhythmic register, favoring a combination that harks back to the golden days of progressive trance, with a serpentine bassline that nervously undulates and drives the drum section with a nod to Emmanuel Top's Attack period. “Mahatma Groove” draws heavily from that imagery, with acid threads and trancey waves crashing against the rhythmic wall. Finally, there is a piece from 1999, included in the first volume of “Electribe EP” on Subway Records, which Passantino signed with his friend Davide Calì (interviewed here) and which in recent years has become a small collector's item. This is “Ascolta”, where Kraftwerkian matrices in the style of “It’s More Fun To Compute” join large, fluttering trance arcs."

Once upon a time, in the distant year of 1994, a young music enthusiast embarked on a fascinating journey into the world of DJing. That young enthusiast was me, Francesco Passantino. In those ancient times, vinyl reigned supreme, and I delved into its sonic landscapes with enthusiasm and determination.

I still remember the anticipation while waiting in record stores, hoping for an available listening station to explore new tracks and add precious pieces to my collection. As my record collection grew, so did my skill in mixing, an art that would accompany me for a lifetime.

Events and club nights were shrouded in mystery, announced only through PR channels and accessible only to those who knew the right people. Nevertheless, I had the privilege of participating in many of these events, thanks to the collective AIR KRAFT VISION, which helped shape my roots in the world of electronic music.

My passion knew no bounds, and in 2011, I decided to move to Berlin, the pulsating heart of the electronic scene. Here, I opened my studio, where I dedicate myself to music production and the engraving of unique vinyl records, specifically tailored for DJs who share my passion for the analog format.

Now, after three decades of dedication to vinyl, I am thrilled to announce a new release coming soon on my label, Tractorecords. Catalog TR086 marks a fresh start, an exciting chapter in my musical journey.

I would like to thank all those who have crossed my path, old friends and new acquaintances, with whom I have had the privilege to collaborate. The list would be too long to enumerate, but each person has contributed uniquely to my journey.

C'era una volta, nel lontano 1994, un giovane appassionato di musica che decise di intraprendere un viaggio affascinante nel mondo del DJing. Quel giovane ero io, Francesco Passantino. In quel tempo remoto, il vinile regnava sovrano e io mi immergevo nelle sue trame sonore con entusiasmo e determinazione.

Ricordo ancora la sensazione di attesa nei negozi di dischi, sperando che si liberasse un punto d'ascolto per poter esplorare nuove tracce e aggiungere pezzi preziosi alla mia collezione. Man mano che i miei dischi si accumulavano, cresceva anche la mia abilità nel mixaggio, un'arte che mi avrebbe accompagnato per tutta la vita.

Gli eventi e le serate nei club erano avvolti in un'aura di mistero, annunciati solo tramite PR e accessibili solo a chi conosceva le giuste persone. Tuttavia, ho avuto il privilegio di partecipare a molte di queste serate, grazie al collettivo AIR KRAFT VISION, che ha contribuito a plasmare le mie radici nel mondo della musica elettronica.

La mia passione non conosceva confini e nel 2011 ho deciso di trasferirmi a Berlino, cuore pulsante della scena elettronica. Qui ho aperto il mio studio, dove mi dedico alla produzione musicale e all'incisione di vinili unici, pensati appositamente per i DJ che condividono la mia passione per il formato analogico.

Ora, dopo tre decadi di dedizione al vinile, sono entusiasta di annunciare una nuova release in arrivo per la mia label, Tractorecords. Il catalogo TR086 segna un nuovo inizio, un capitolo emozionante nella mia avventura musicale.

Desidero ringraziare tutti coloro che hanno incrociato il mio cammino, vecchi amici e nuove conoscenze, con i quali ho avuto il privilegio di collaborare. La lista sarebbe lunga da elencare, ma ogni persona ha contribuito in modo unico al mio percorso.

Ever since he was a kid he’s been drawn to music, especially to movie soundtracks, that unconsciously brought him closer to electronic music, though his real passion bloomed and materialized in the 90s, when he started djing during Sunday afternoon club parties.

He became part of the music world in 1996. From 1996 to 1998 he worked as a Dj in various clubs / on special events around Italy - Liguria and Toscana (Cocoricò, Insomnia, Imperiale, Red Zone, The West).
And thus, in 1999 he started a musical adventure together with 2 dear friends: they founded the “Air Kraft Vision”, a live-act of progressive and tech-house matrix based on midi sequences created and mixed live using recording studio type devices. This is how they started touring the most prestigious clubs in Italy: North to South.
In the same year Francesco started to publish his own musical productions on vinyl.

Those were the 90s, a very vivid time for music… a time of collaborations and friendships that soon turned into fruitful projects. A few examples would be Paskkal and SpostaMenti.
It was in 2003 that he became a member of “SpostaMenti” ("Moving-Minds"), a project created by Francesco Zappalà on the occasion of his first live act opening at Distorsione Future Music Festival Bologna.

In 2004 Francesco Passantino founded his own studio, Laboraudio and created his own label, “Tractorecords”, which he still manages today together with his friends Francesco Zappalà e Giosuè Impellizzeri. The music genres of predilection are tech-house and minimal techno, in collaboration with various foreign labels and artists.
At that time he also started working with important acts like Steve Stoll and Groove Rebels.

As a producer related to a context of minimal techno and tech house, he crossed the borders reaching Germany with Whirlpoolsex Music e Keno Records (the latter contains the successful “Monosynth” including the Kollektiv Turmstrasse remix).

His constant cooperation with the German Interklang allowed him to reach renowned clubs all over Germany, where he was invited to perform as a DJ.
Furthermore, he cooperated with Sabrina Carnevale and Sonartek and had a regular weekly presence on the radio show Soundzrise broadcasted by the Italian radio station M2O.

At the end of 2010 Francesco got in touch with artists from Berlin and in 2011 created - together with Francesco Zappalà - the summer event at the Delano Beach in Ibiza.

In 2012, after some gigs at the Arena Club, he decided to move to Berlin where he started a regular weekly gig at the Eschschloraque. In those days, he was working on record projects together with Sabrina Carnevale and Dino Lenny.

In Berlin, Francesco Passantino created Round Qube Musik, together with Gabriele Carasco and I-Max.

During 2012, already based in Berlin, he also started performing regularly at parties hosted by different clubs in the German capital: Club Der Visionaere”, Hoppetosse, ://about blank, Chalet.

Club der Visionäre is however the spot that marked Francesco's musical existence and sound, that made him grow and evolve as a musician and performer, as a result of his numerous collaborations with so many international artists.

In 2016 it's time for Vinyl2Go, a company dedicated to printing custom-made vinyl in small quantities for every music genre, and for Berliner Vinyl Werk, a small record store.

2021 is the year that witnesses the birth of the Resilience Groove project, a 4 artist live act, which is presently hosted by the Club der Visionäre.

Francesco's dj set encompasses a range of musical genres that includes techno, house and minimal, all with a touch of his 90s origins and all backed by 26 years of music production.
