What is Subbolo?

“Citizen Journalism has been around for centuries, but each technological advance has made it easier to reach more people,” said Valer Belace, who leads the Yale University Information Society Project.

Citizen Journalism is an evolving phenomenon in a rapidly changing digital sphere. It’s a future. Citizen Journalists are now part of the news platforms, offering new voices and a variety of perspectives.

SUBBOLO. It’s our purpose -- our call to action.

We believe that the news you brought deserve attention. It’s a platform for independent volunteer citizen journalists to bring news through crowdsourcing. We aim at running the Journalists Residency Program and building an alternative to mainstream news media to train them how to voice out an important issue and create an impact; and to be an active participant in news gathering in news gathering and reporting. In this project, citizens will no longer just passively observe but actively voice out. And will find out the who, the what, the where, the how, the way of a story -- and the why not.
