African women lag behind men in access to digital information and communication technologies. According to the ITU, 18.6% of women in Africa have access to the internet compared to 24.9% of men. Although the number of internet users is growing steadily (+20% per year), the gender digital divide is still very much present. Women are now 18% more likely than men to be non-users of the internet.
