Dear Lord,

We stand before You today, beseeching Your divine intervention. Today, we humbly ask You to give us good weather so our plans can continue. We know that sunshine and rain come from You, and You control the changing seasons and the weather. We ask that you bless us with a sunny day.

Amen.

Dear Lord,

Let your tranquility dwell among us, and let your peace remain in our hearts. May our voices proclaim your truth, and may your cross be the guardian of our souls. O Lord, make us bold, make us worthy to offer to you pure and holy prayer; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

ST. BRIDGET OF SWEDEN
July 23

St. Bridget of Sweden (born c. 1303, Sweden—died July 23, 1373, Rome [Italy]; canonized October 8, 1391; feast day July 23, formerly October 8) was the patron saint of Sweden, founder of the Bridgittines (Order of the Most Holy Savior), and a mystic whose revelations were influential during the Middle Ages. In 1999 Pope John Paul II named her one of the patron saints of Europe.

The daughter of Birger Persson, governor of Uppland, she had from an early age remarkable religious visions that influenced her entire life and outlook. As a young teenager in 1316 she married Ulf Gudmarsson, later governor of the province of Nericia. She bore eight children, including St. Catherine of Sweden.

On the death of her husband in 1344, Bridget retired to a life of penance and prayer near the Cistercian monastery of Alvastra on Lake Vetter. To the prior, Peter Olafsson, she dictated the revelations that came to her, and he translated them into Latin. One was a command to found a new religious order, which she was not able to fulfill until near the end of her life, receiving papal permission from Pope Urban V for her order of cloistered nuns in 1370. She went to Rome in 1350 and, except for several pilgrimages, remained there for the rest of her life, constantly accompanied by Catherine. She exercised a wide apostolate among rich and poor, sheltering the homeless and sinners, and she worked untiringly for the end of the Avignon papacy and for the pope to return to Rome. She was spurred by a vision to visit the Holy Land in 1372, and she died soon after her return to Rome.

Bridget’s revelations were first published in 1492 and have since been published in many languages.

Dear Lord,

Lord, grant me tenacious winsome courage as I go through this day. When I am tempted to give up, help me to keep going. Grant me a cheerful spirit when things don't go my way. And give me the courage to do whatever needs to be done. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Amen.

July 22
Feast of St. Mary Magdalene

St. Mary Magdalene is one of the greatest saints of the Bible and a legendary example of God's mercy and grace. The precise dates of her birth and death are unknown, but we do know she was present with Christ during his public ministry, death and resurrection. She is mentioned at least a dozen times in the Gospels.

Mary Magdalene has long been regarded as a pr******te or sexually immoral in western Christianity, but this is not supported in the scriptures. It is believed she was a Jewish woman who lived among Gentiles, living as they did.

The Gospels agree that Mary was originally a great sinner. Jesus cast seven demons out of her when he met her. After this, she told several women she associated with and these women also became followers.

There is also debate over if Mary Magdalene is the same unnamed women, a sinner, who weeps and washes Jesus' feet with her hair in the Gospel of John. Scholars are skeptical this is the same person.

Despite the scholarly dispute over her background, what she did in her subsequent life, after meeting Jesus, is much more significant. She was certainly a sinner whom Jesus saved, giving us an example of how no person is beyond the saving grace of God.

Dear Lord,

May nothing separate me from You today. Teach me how to choose only Your way today so each step will lead me closer to You. Help me walk by the Word and not my feelings. Help me to keep my heart pure and undivided.

Amen.

“Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while. . . ..” When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.

Dear Lord,

I pray that I will stay focused on you today. I pray that You will constantly remind me to be content in all of my circumstances. I pray that You will fill me up that I may be joyful all day, even if stress creeps in. I know that through my contentment, You will be glorified. I want to honor You, Father, in all that I do. I praise Your Holy Name!

Amen.

Ang Kwento na may Kwenta

Kwento na may Kwenta (The Story of the Face of Christ in every Person) “The Internet… offers immense possibilities for encounter and solidarity. This is something truly good, a gift from God.” – Pope Francis.

21st century or the so called ‘Generation Z’ has been currently engaging in its peak especially in the field of communication and information. Generation Z is considered to be the epitome of digital nativity. The adherents of this age were adventurous and multitaskers. Considered as digital natives, their lives were full of enthusiasm for novelty and unconventional. These novelties comprise the instrumentality of the digital world devices in accomplishing every single task one needs to finish. The highly digitalized period attributes much esteem to the powerful web of nets in every corner of the world. Mass media has been told to be a powerful and effective means to communicate and to spread something important. One of the trending topics for the new evangelization is the use of mass media which serves as an edifice for establishing connections and relationships. Mass Media has been garnering a lot of positive respects when it comes to the dissemination for information especially in the realm of innovative sciences and civil management. Moreover, mass media appears in itself unrestrained within the social bounds but also enters in the ecclesial activities of the Church which serves to be a channel of gathering the faithful and also in evangelizing others as well.

KnmK (Kwento na may Kwenta) is basically a page which can be a channel for anyone to share their stories. We, as individuals, believe that each of us has its own story to tell. Each of us has a valuable story to tell. Each of us undergoes trials and difficulties in our lives. Would this statement be a support to the old adage ‘Experience is the best teacher?’? Yes, it is. Each of us is enrolled in the biggest university in history; the university of life where ‘Experience” holds a very high position in its academe. Each life subject that we take always leaves viable mark in ourselves which teaches us lessons for future use. Moreover, these life lessons are not just a mere one-sentenced-thing but such is a story to tell. However, this made me realize and ponder on the great life stories I have heard as much as I can remember. KnmK is an avenue to share and evangelize about our faith. It serves as a daily dose of inspiration and information not only limited to our faith but also to inspire others about living the Gospel teachings each day. The main ‘Banquero’ of the ‘kwentuhan’ in this page is the Lord Himself through His inspiration to the different sharers of their various experiences on how they were being inspired by the Holy Spirit in serving in the vast vineyard of the Lord.
