MUSTBOP

MUSTBOP MUSTBOP: Monash Uni Student Theatre B-grade Overdubbing Project. MUSTBOP began in 2013 and has since become an annual project in the MUST season.

MUSTBOP allows students to take part in an unconventional form of performance and creativity with set performances throughout the year. Using the Monash University Cinema, located deep within the Campus Centre, a brilliant team of dedicated writers, actors and technicians will create performances like no other. Obtaining B-grade mediocrities (or well-aged A-grade masterpieces) the team of creative

s work on making new dialogue, music and sound effects to change the films from what they once were to new creations limited only by their imaginations. Through hard work and out of the box thinking MUSTBOP endeavours to make the horrifying hilarious, the tragic comedic and the politically correct the politically incorrect. The 2013 MUSTBOP was headed by James Jackson with James Hogan, Jessica Kos, Lindsay Templeton and Daniel Lodder. The team took Sergio Leone’s 1968 spaghetti western “Once Upon A Time In The West” and created a comedic farce worthy of the standing ovation it received. Henry Fonda’s unforgettable character Frank was on an unstoppable vengeance mission after his linen had been turned pink in the wash while Charles Bronson as Harmonica was determined to become a dolphin. A high point of the film was Harmonica’s tear jerking song “I dreamed a dream a dolphin dream.”

The 2014 MUST-BOP was headed by Callum Dale and was shown in the Monash University Cinema on April 7th and 8th. A classic horror film turned romantic-comedy gone wrong. MUSTBOP 2014 took John Carpenter’s classic, first-person, horror film, ‘Halloween,’ and turned it into a gut-busting, tear-jerking romantic comedy of errors. Filled with innuendo, sappy love scenes, grotesque humour and more pop songs than you can poke a butcher’s knife at, it sure was memorable night! The 2015 MUSTBOP is headed by Lucinda Walravens and Alana Coventry, and shall be shown in the Campus Centre Cinema, April 28th and 29th. Taking live nature documentary footage, MUSTBOP 205: the Pride of Africa is a mockumentary about the political uprising of the Pridelands. Follow Kevin and Mara as they interview a vast array of animals of the Pridelands, as they fight to break free from the reign of the oppressive monarchy of the Pride.
