RIP to God’s Favorite DJ. Gone but never forgotten.
A few episodes back Kev did what Kev does. Ironically, the New York Mets have been on a tear since this rant. I think Kevlar had done more for this turnaround than Grimace.
We’ve dropped a few episodes since 146 but “Vibes & Stuff” is one of our most listened to episodes this year. Thanks to angry Kevlar.

Every once in a while, an interview turns more into a conversation amongst rap dudes. We anticipated having Rapper Big Pooh and Phonte for just 45 minutes, so when I tell you the interview lasted 2 hours and 30 minutes, it tells you just how funny and relatable these guys are to talk to.
We covered an awful lot, yet it wasn’t nearly enough once it was over. We discuss the May the Lord Watch documentary, their love for Beck or Bjork and their hate for Sci-Fi and its magical white people. We touch on their ridiculous stretch of music that ultimately burnt them out.
We get into the brilliance of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Ice Cube’s Death Certificate, which is better Low End Theory or Midnight Marauders, and Dominican broads making chili con queso.
We also talk Ghostface, Murs, Common, The Roots, Evidence, Kendrick Lamar and their affection for Outkast.
I saw a great quote the other day and it said, “If Wu-Tang is for the kids, Little Brother is for the ones that raise them.”
Thanks to Rapper Big Pooh, Phonte, Andre Barnes and our longtime homie, I.D. for the idea. Stay tuned as we prepare to drop our Little Brother tribute in early March.
Enjoy the discussion.

Nice & Smooth - Funky For You feat. Kool Keith?
Every interview we do contains an awkward moment, an informative moment, a funny moment and an oh sh*t moment.
From the time Redman took us on his journey for take-out food to Meyhem taking us live on stage. I can’t forget when Del had to step away to drop a deuce or Planet Asia yelling at the church goers above his apartment. These are magical moments we captured talking to our rap heroes like G. Rap, KRS and DJ Premier. To making guys like Black Thought, Pharoahe and Erick Sermon laugh at our dumb jokes. These interviews are special moments for us and we’re fortunate to share them with you.
There’s too many to name but thanks to…

Kev is always good for these one-liners.
Like most, The Artifacts provided the sounds to many of my mixtapes, radio shows and countless memories over the years. When I first started doing radio, Tame was actually one of the first rappers who was cool enough to even send me records. He put me in touch with his manager (his mother Darlene) and we’d exchange emails for awhile before they sent me a bunch of records for me to play. Tame even sent me his own copy of That’s Them so I could have it. He barely knew me. We never met but after some convos he must have believed in me to send music for my show. He would later become a reoccurring guest on The Philaflava Show at FAU. He was always down to support, call-in or even freestyle on-air. He was always cool like that. He was always willing to talk about whatever I had asked him in interviews, regardless of how others could take it. He was just a real dude. I’ve always been of fan of Tame, the rapper and the person. I’ll cherish the interviews we did together. The private conversations we had over the years and I’ll always appreciate the fact he took a shot on me, some clueless teenage kid, in love with the music and who just wanted others to listen to the music I loved, like The Artifacts. It sucks to know we will never hear from Tame again, but his music will live on forever. RIP Tame One.
We’re dropping part 7, our series finale of our 1994 tribute later today. 7 shows, 21+ hours of music with over 350+ tracks dedicated to 1994. @takeitpersonalradio
