Happy news among all the sad news of this week - another beautiful baby rhino arrived! 🥰

BREAKING NEWS: RIVER GIVES BIRTH TO BABY BOY!

Just two weeks after Wyntir and her newborn made international headlines, fellow orphaned rhino River, gave birth to a little bull calf.

The baby was born between 05:00-05:30 on the morning of 1st March 2022.

It’s another incredibly poignant and emotional moment for the team.

River was rescued on the 4th September 2014. After poachers killed her mother, River was attacked by lions who left deep wounds on her thighs. Although River’s wounds healed, she still bares the scars, a continual reminder of her fight for survival.

River has always been a feisty rhino. Fiercely protective of her crash and rhino friends, this instinct to protect is more prevalent now than ever before. One thing is certain, this little one has an amazing Mom!

Great news! I volunteered at Care for Wild (with all of your support!!!) in 2017, where I met earless rhino, Wyntir. Now Wyntir is mom to the perfect Valentine~!

There will be precious few in-person opportunities this year, but of course I had to return to my home state! It's a bit farther from home for our little rhino, though...
