Five of our Artists/performers will be talking about Trop Rock'N Duval including Jerry Diaz the man who Started MOTM back in 1992 in New Orleans. He will be in MOTM but he could not miss being in Key West for the very first Trop Rock'N Duval.

This week our Artiist Spotlight of the Month is on Will Kimbrough. For the last 20 years he has been a key player in Songwriting with Jimmy Buffett. He has helped to bring over 20 songs into the song lists of Jimmy Buffett including 5 more on the lastest CD Album due to be released Nov 3. “Equal Strain on All Parts”. . . .

Will Kimbrough will take you on a songwriting Journey as he talks about writing songs with Jimmy and some of the in depth stories hanging out with Jimmy and some crazy adventures.

He has also graciously shared some short 1 minute snippets of 5 of the songs on the new album. These are what Will prepared for Jimmy to give him an idea of what the song would sound like. And amazingly every song is just about exactly what it ended up sounding like. Will is such an amazing song writing talent and guitarist and is truly a great person too. I've had the honor of knowing Will for over 13 years now and he also is in the book I published 12 years ago, “Trop Rock Song Stories and Tales”. Two of the songs in the book are songs recorded by Jimmy Buffett, Surfing in a Hurricane and Nobody From Nowhere. And Will talks about how those songs were written with Jimmy also.

One of the snippets he did was Bubbles Up. This is the only place you will be able to hear this song. Just a 1 minute peak of one of the last songs Jimmy ever recorded. This snippet is by Will Kimbrough and the complete song with Jimmy Buffett is played after the interview.

There are truly no words to describe how he inspired the life of so many musicians and music lovers who yearned for a lifestyle that was laidback, easy going and fun. He was the Navigator of our Journey. As we all were yearning to be somewhere on a distant beach, or sailing in the ocean. Or maybe just sitting at home listening to his songs, stories and tales and enjoying a Margarita. And dreaming about being on a tropical island with your best friend. . . . . You were loved, your music was loved and it touched so many lives and hearts. And now your soul is in a better place. And your music will live on forever. But we will miss you . . . . Sail on Jimmy, sail on to that big Margaritaville up in heaven.

Key West will always be known for Hemingway, Capt'N Tony, DJ Jeff and Jimmy Buffett and for all of us with so many precious memories, great times that we had on the Streets of Duval and all around town. . . . This year in Key West will seem a little different for so many reasons. With MOTM absent and with Jimmy's passing it will be even more special for all of us that are planning the Trek to Key West November 1-5 for Trop Rock'N Duval. . . . Remember as you walk the streets in Key West that Jimmy and lots of other of us walked those very same streets. . . . Hey BeachBums,

I need to clarify a little rumor that has me bothered. I'm hearing that what we are doing in Key West is being called the "Anti-MOTM". This could not be further from the truth. . . . . The Trop Rockers have always been performing in Key West for as long as MOTM has been there. Some of them even during other times of the year. MOTM had to leave Key West for many reasons. It wasn't the fault of the Trop Rock artists that have regular gigs down there. So why should they give those gigs up. So when many of the Trop Rock artists AND Venues that we support asked us if we wanted to be there in 2023. We wanted to support them. THIS IS NOT in COMPETITION with MOTM. We fully support MOTM, in fact the BeachFront Radio TROP ROCK All Star show on Sunday will be at the Flora-Bama in Gulf Shores like it always was during MOTM in Key West. . . . . Trop Rock'N Duval is NOT an event, it is a "Happening" (no charge to attend) because with or without the Radio Stations being there or not the Trop Rock artists would be. . . . And in reality during MOTM the Trop Rock artists were "Trop Rock'N Duval" it's just that no one called it that. . . . I'll get off my Soap Box now but I really don't think it is appropriate for what's "Happening" in Key West Nov 1-5 to be called the anti-MOTM, that is just wrong. . . . . Sorry for the rant. But I want to make it clear that we are only Supporting the Trop Rock artists that enjoy playing in Key West and many of them do this for a living. . . .
