I’m Jim and I recently graduated from Ferris State with a major in Television Production. I grew up in the small town of Eagle where I enjoyed spending most of my time in the great outdoors. I enjoy hunting, fishing, quad riding, kayaking, trap shooting and basically riding anything that has wheels. I recently got married to my lovely wife Jamie and we’re currently living in Lansing, looking to bu
ild our lives together. Throughout my college years, I had a tough time figuring out what I wanted to study, but I’m glad that I took a look back on my life and realized studying video production was what I really wanted to do. I was involved in 4-H since I was 9 and took photography exhibits to the fair each year. What I seemed to have overlooked was that I had a video camera in my hands far more. Most of my life has been filming memories with my friends. I started out filming my dad and brother riding their dirt bikes around, my friend and I making an instructional video on how to fly a toy plane, and all the various silly skits/stunts we would perform. As time went on, I started experimenting with different (and more dangerous) angles when filming dirt bike riding, the skits became more planned out, and the videos became longer. At this point I knew I wanted to learn more about how to make higher quality videos, and how to start editing. A friend of mine found a video contest held by John Tesh. We were required to write lyrics and create a video to provided music. We decided to try it out and I took on the role of cameraman, director, and writer. With the help of one of our editing friends, we were able to put together a pretty good video especially for a few people making their first attempt at a music video. We ended up taking 3rd place and won a $500 prize. After that my passion to study videography increased. By looking back on my life, I realized I love to capture memories on video and use it to tell a story. I want to be able to help others capture their memories and be able to look back on them. So here I am, ready to help you capture your memories and put together good stories to look back on.
