Grand River Avenue Construction Alert:

For those driving through Wixom/Novi/Lyon Township, the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to close the south 12 Mile Road approach to Grand River Avenue, just west of Wixom Road in Wixom, starting July 22 for intersection construction. Additionally, the Meijer entrance on the north side of the Grand River Avenue/12 Mile Road intersection will close with other access remaining open.

The detour for 12 Mile Road through traffic will be 12 Mile Road to Napier Road to Grand River Avenue and vice versa. During the work, Grand River Avenue will remain open to two-way traffic. 12 Mile Road and the Meijer entrance at Grand River Avenue are expected to be re-opened on Aug. 12, with construction on Grand River Avenue continuing until late August.

The work is part of the ongoing Grand River Avenue major resurfacing project from Napier Road to Wixom Road.

On July 9, 2024 the Wixom City Council, in partnership with the Wixom Downtown Development Authority (DDA), authorized the adoption and implementation of its first formal, comprehensive Branding Style Guide for the community. This style guide includes a reimagined logo, defined brand elements including colors, marks, fonts, and specific brand elements for the various functions of the City. The new branding style guide, as well as a comprehensive community signage plan, was developed by a Steering Committee comprised of Wixom residents and businesses over a 7-month period after collecting input via a community survey, community tours, focus groups, and workshops that all helped to capture the City’s brand personality and inform the direction of the project.



Over the coming months, the City and DDA will work to roll out this new community brand in phases over the next few months. In the near future, Wixom also intends to roll out new signage for the City’s multiple parks, community facilities, as well as gateway and wayfinding signage to support a sense of place. THE AMAZING RACE SATURDAY JULY 27
