THE DARK is a monthly online magazine of dark and strange fiction which debuted in the Fall of 2013, Just that—different. And dark.

In the pages of THE DARK, you will find a different kind of dark fiction. Not necessarily horror, per se, with blood and guts and serial killers, but fiction that is weird and offbeat; magic realism; the fantastic; dark science fiction (and not your ordinary “robots and aliens” science fiction). No variation is off limits, and we will be encouraging our writers to take chances with their fiction.

Edited by award winning editor Sean Wallace, every month THE DARK will bring you a mix of dark and fantastic fiction, featuring a variety of authors—from the bestsellers and award-winners you already know to the best new voices you haven’t heard of yet. We openly welcome new and aspiring authors, and love to showcase brand new talent! We will not be a magazine that publishes only “name” authors, nor will we close our doors to unsolicited submissions! Our planned publication schedule is every month and will include two pieces of original fiction, as well as two reprints. We will also publish ebook issues, which will be available for sale in ePub format via our website and also available in other formats such as Kindle and Nook, for sale through all major vendors, including Amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com. We will also offer subscriptions to our ebook edition in a variety of formats.
