Ogbohill Waterside Tragic accident Update:

In a heart-wrenching tragedy that unfolded on the 14th day of November 2023, a wave of sorrow engulfed Aba, Abia state, as numerous lives were tragically cut short. The grim scene was set when a colossal forty-foot trailer, careening uncontrollably from Azuka junction, left devastation in its wake.

As the driver blared his horn, a desperate attempt to warn fellow motorists of the impending danger, the situation took a catastrophic turn when the trailer descended the treacherous hills. The already compromised road infrastructure in Aba, a consequence of pervasive corruption and nepotism in the awarding of road contracts, exacerbated the unfolding disaster.

This earlier breakdown had commandeered half the bridge's space, creating a lethal bottleneck. Eyewitnesses described the location as an unnavigable nightmare, scarred by deep potholes, leaving early morning commuters stranded and vulnerable.

The ensuing traffic snarl became a death trap, claiming a distressing number of lives and inflicting severe injuries. AmuzuTv's footage captured the harrowing scenes of valiant Aba residents rallying together to rescue victims trapped in mangled vehicles, a stark reminder of the resilience in the face of tragedy.

While soldiers of the Nigerian Army and Civil Defence Corps were present at the scene, the absence of the Federal Road Safety Corps Nigeria raised concerns. This calamity echoes a previous incident, leading the former governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, to close the notorious Abattoir market under the bridge and enforce a daytime ban on trailer and heavy-duty truck traffic—a measure that remains overlooked by the current administration under Dr. Alex Chioma Otti.

We call on the governor to assess the situation and come with deliberate actions to save further loss of lives in the state in general and that Ogbohill waterside in particular.

A tragic accident happened at Ogbor-hill bridge Aba Abia state.

This early morning, the driver of a trailer carrying a forty-feet container of bail materials lost control of the vehicle and slammed into two other vehicles.

The container felled off the trailer and crushed occupants of these vehicles killing at least one person and injuring lots of other occupants of the vehicles..

The co**se of one of the dead is still under the forty feet container that felled off the trailer as at the time of the report.

Only the beyond repair Sienna bus has been tolled out.

The negligence of the government of Abia state, poor road infrastructure, trailer driver, society for not calling out those in authority.
