Heya! Time for another episode today on Black Rhino Radio, this time with Booca (Pinecone Moonshine, Transmute Recordings) as guest. The broadcast starts at 18:00 EET (16:00 GMT), and here's some info about this interesting producer:
Marseu Emanuele aka Booca fell in love with dance music at the age of 12, thanks to the release of the first DaftPunk LP, "Homework" (1997). Subsequently, thanks to the Prodigy's most famous music videos, he will have the opportunity to explore rougher and more underground sounds by discovering artists such as Massive Attack, Portishead and Lamb. From that moment on, he will feel the need to discover music that is different from the usual canons.
Next, in 2000 with the album "Fear Of The People" by Klute, Booca begins to savor the 170bpm and beyond. While the search for more experimental, electronic, dub, ambient sounds will continue incessantly thanks to famous labels such as Warp, Ninja Tune, Merk, Morr Music, Schematic, even jungle and drumfunk sounds will increasingly make their way into Booca's musical baggage thanks to the discovery of artists such as Pieter K, Breakage, Equinox, Senses etc.
Booca will never be a true lover of live sets and DJ sets, especially improvisation won't be his strong suit. He had some local experience, but this will not be his real outlet. He will need to create something more personal and personalized.
Finally, in 2010, thanks to the support, experience and strong motivation of his friend Alessandro aka Enjoy (AkoBeatz), Booca will begin to give life to his first tracks and a few years later he will begin a new path of single and EP releases on various labels such as: Omni Music, Next Phase, Pineconemoonshine, Transmute, Black Crane, Breakbeat Rebelz, Lost Paradise, both in digital and vinyl format. Thanks to these releases Booca will be able to express himself with slower tracks like "She's Ilma", more breakbeat like "140", more experimental like "Secret Secretary", more acid like "Venice" or more jungle like "Brave". Various genres enclosed in a single style.
Therefore, the mix that you're going to listen in the last 70 minute of this episode contains a bit of everything mentioned above, with slower and faster genres coming together to tell a story of strong passion for music. Enjoy! 🖖
