What is your comfort WrestleMania?
The Wrestlemania I always go to is WrestleMania X
I always rented it if there wasn’t anything else that was new or I hadn’t seen. Then when I got the WrestleMania (1-14) vhs box set it was the first tape I popped in. The overall story of the entire event - the opening match, the ladder match, the hitman finally getting his moment. Just a classic comfort Mania in my opinion.
What’s yours?

1993 thoughts:
1993 was when we started getting more crowd chants on televised wrestling. Smokey Mountain and WCW fans started chanting “Paula! Paula! Paula!” whenever Mr Wonderful Paul Orndorff would be in the ring. Both WCW and WWF Fans were chanting “whoomp there it is!”, a popular song by the group coincidentally called Tag Team. The most popular of chants and probably still chanted to some small effect today was birthed : “ECW”To my knowledge this is the first time a crowd started chanting for a wrestling promotion, and by name. What a time to be alive and witness the evolution of the wrestling product. It now seems like crowd chants go hand and hand with wrestling. While sometimes justified, other times over used, it can also be abused. 1993 wasn’t the easiest year for Shawn Michaels in ring promos or matches. Often times the smaller New York crowd would over power the announcers and in ring audio with “Shawn is Gay” chants. Another booming example is from Sept 1993 the crowd have been adamantly chanting “Johnny Homo ::clap. clap. clap, clap, clap:: “
Turns out Johnny and Shawn would do alright in the wrestling business .
Let me know some of your favorite or least favorite chants, moments or memories of the illustrious wrestling audience below or DM and we can chop it up on a podcast 🤘🏼
