Rosalia Films specializes in the stories of community members whose voices aren’t often heard, telling them with sensitivity and respect and with the hope of motivating positive social change. Director Chris Farina’s films portray people who live and work in familiar American settings and typically receive little media attention. His work is guided by the principle of respect for the individuals portrayed, allowing them to tell the stories of their lives and their community in their own fashion.

Back in April during the premiere of “A Bridge to Life,” Sam Heath from Equal Justice USA shared a powerful moment with us. After the film, he asked his eight-year-old daughter what stood out most. She paused, thought, and said, “That people can change that much.”

She got it. Bridges change people. Thank you Sam for sharing your daughter’s wisdom!

John Hunter puts all the problems of the world on a 4'x5' plywood board -- and lets his 4th-graders solve them. At TED2011, he explains how his World Peace Game engages schoolkids, and why the complex lessons it teaches -- spontaneous, and always surprising -- go further than classroom lectures can.

We're thrilled to share with our "A Bridge to Life" supporters that Seats at the Table with Dr. Andrew Kaufman, a Chris Farina production released in 2018, was named a semi-finalist at the 2024 CLIMAX Film Festival.

The feature documentary follows a college class where university students and prisoners from a maximum-security juvenile facility come together to discuss Russian literature. Through these discussions, they break down stereotypes, form deep connections, and gain a profound understanding of each other's lives. Led by University of Virginia Lecturer Andrew D. Kaufman since 2010, this transformative educational experience leaves both groups empowered and inspired to lead more purposeful lives. Previously, "Seats at the Table" has been showcased at prestigious events including the SXSW EDU Conference, The Virginia Film Festival, United Nations Association Film Festival, and Global Peace Film Festival.

The film is available via PBS: https://www.pbs.org/show/seats-table/ #:~:text=Seats%20at%20the%20Table%20%7C%20PBS

Tickets for the April 18 premiere are sold on a sliding scale as a fundraiser for The Bridge Ministry and the film’s distribution.

Supporting The Bridge is more crucial than ever, as they lost half a million dollars in state funding late last year.

Through the film, we aim to showcase The Bridge Ministry's transformative work. We hope to inspire similar programs nationwide and promote compassionate alternatives to incarceration amidst a national crisis of addiction — a crisis The Bridge Ministry works hard to solve.

Please join us to help support The Bridge Ministry. Tickets are still available. Get yours now! https://charlottesville.theparamount.net/abridgetolife
