I am so grateful for the opportunity to share my voice as a survivor in the Journal of Human Trafficking, Enslavement and Conflict-Related S*xual Violence . The OSCE/OSIHR Code of Practice is a groundbreaking document that stands in the gap for victims and survivors of human trafficking. It gives the member states of the OSCE a roadmap for their engagement with victims and survivors and begins to create a pathway that lends itself to their recovery and gives them the dignity and acknowledgment they deserve. I was so honored to see my idea for a Victims and Survivors Bill of Rights be developed by OSCE/OSIHR into the Code of Practice and to work with my fellow Inaugural International Survivors of Trafficking Advisory Council members to create this amazing document! As a United States Marine Corps Veteran and a survivor of child s*x trafficking, I want to thank Laura Lederer and the U.S. Department of Defense Combating Trafficking in Persons Office for giving me the opportunity to help train military Chaplins on the recognition and aftercare of victims of human trafficking. Chaplins are a key ally in the fight against human trafficking and the safety that is imbued in the quiet serenity of their counsel can be the one place where victims or those who know a victim can disclose ongoing abuse and trafficking. Our military men and women along with their families make great sacrifices for the United States and it’s up to us to support them in every way possible. Giving a Chaplin the tools they need to help someone being abused and trafficked find the strength to disclose and free themselves from the burden of that pain and find help is priceless.

I wanted to share the four part documentary series from the Discovery Channel “The Clown and the Candyman” that includes my story of survival as a victim of child s*x trafficking as it documents pe*****le rings and serial killers who molested and murdered young boys in the 1970’s. Now on Discovery and Discovery ID. The Clown and the Candyman is currently available in the US, UK, Australia, Denmark and Sweden.
