Posting this as it has caused me problems over the years!!

For anyone working across multiple time zones the clocks went back an hour last night in Europe and the UK. In Ireland we have moved from IST (Irish Summer Time, or BST, British Summer Time, or GMT +1) to GMT.

If you have client meetings this week in the US or Canada, please note that their clocks haven't changed yet. They don't change until the 3rd of November.

The clocks in Australia & New Zealand changed on the 6th of October.

The look on Daisy's face cracks me up...🤣

This pic was taken on Friday night and to say I was exhausted was an under statement.

Rocco (the 🐈‍⬛️) was nice and comfy on my lap. Daisy (the 🐩) is not happy as she wants to be where Rocco is.

They have a funny relationship. Rocco quite likes Daisy, but is continuously pranking her (as cats do). Daisy tollerates the cat and is jealous as hell.

Full disclosure I was mortified getting this pic taken in Lidl Ireland. But I thought it was a great example of how to create an "Instagram" moment. So I pushed through the mortification!! (I had to queue with a bunch of children 🙈)

If you create the right "scene" your customers will create social media content for you.

They become your advocates. They share their positive experiences with their friends and family. It's the equivalent of "word of mouth" on speed.

And if you encourage or incentivize customers to tag you, you can reshare their content.

What better content than happy customers sharing their experiences.

How useful for events, hotels, campsites, retail, activity centres, political campaigns.....etc.

I simply couldn't believe my eyes... and I thought.. Can a simple act of customer service make or break your experience with a business?

Whether you're selling a product or a service, a negative customer experience will ultimately affect how often customers do business with you and whether they choose to repeat their business with you at all.

In this week's episode of the Social Media Takeaway, I shared a story about a client who visited a new restaurant near his home. Two days later, he received a call from the restaurant manager asking about his experience. He was so impressed by this level of customer service that he shared the story with me. Such experiences encourage customers to refer others to you, whether through word of mouth, social media reviews, or user-generated content.

However, not all customer service stories are positive. Last week, I experienced poor customer service at a local supermarket. I was using the self-service till when I noticed that the raspberries I had purchased were spoiled. I had two heavy bags with me, and there was an assistant beside me.

He kindly offered to take the raspberries from me, which I thought was a nice gesture. I watched as he disappeared down the aisle. However, he returned a few seconds later with no raspberries in hand and asked, "Oh, did you want me to get you the raspberries?" I replied, "Yes, but it's okay, I'll get them myself." So off I went with my two heavy bags, down the aisle, looking for fresh raspberries.

To my disbelief, I saw the same spoiled raspberries I had returned on the shelf. Rather than getting me fresh raspberries, the assistant had put the spoiled ones back on the shelf! I couldn't believe my eyes..... As I made my way back through the shop, I met the same assistant. Laughing, I asked, "Did you just put those raspberries back on the shelf?" He replied with a big smile, "Yes, because they're in date." I said, "But they're spoiled." He responded, "Oh no, they're in date; it'll be fine. Somebody will sort it out later." I shook my head, smiled back at him, and walked out the door, thinking, "Is that not just a recipe for disaster?"

When the next person buys those spoiled raspberries, returns home, and realizes what they have purchased, what kind of experience is that going to be for them? How many people will they tell? Will they return to the same store to buy their fruit next time?

Exceptional customer service can turn customers into advocates. Delighted customers tell their friends and families about positive experiences, write 5-star reviews, and create user-generated content by sharing their experiences on social media.

Unhappy customers will also tell friends and family, write negative reviews, and ultimately stop doing business with those businesses.

Starting next week, ChatGPT will be rolling out its highly anticipated Voice Mode, initially available in an alpha phase to selected ChatGPT Plus users (ME please!! Cannot wait)....

Previously referred to as Sky, the voice was suspended after it was noted that it bore a striking resemblance to actress Scarlett Johansson's voice, especially her role in the movie 'Her'. Anyhooooooo…….moving swiftly on…

So rather than typing conversations with ChatGPT, you’ll be able to talk to it. As I talked about in my Podcast, "Chat GPT for Business", (And also my amazing conversation with Claude Schneider , link in bio 😎) consider ChatGPT like the smartest person on your team (IQ similar to Einstein) who never gets tired, is available for work 24/7 and is always getting better…..

This new feature allows for real-time, human-like voice interactions (I wonder what the voice will be like…….(guessing NOT like Scarlett Johansson……..ouch!), transforming how you use ChatGPT..

I’m already loving the ability to have voice conversations with ChatGPT app. So I can’t wait to see how this goes.
