Time has come for another issue of EXPERIENCE THE POWER Fanzine.
#18 is almost ready and we are ready to announce what is included in the brand-new issue.

So the new issue is once again dedicated to truly underground acts that definitely need your attention and support

Groove Therapist - Monologue listening session

Last weekend was dedicated to listening sessions and after Saturday's Epic Metal battle with Achelous new album, gloomy Sunday was dedicated to one of the most unique Progressive Metal acts our scene has and one of my personal faves - Groove Therapist.
8 years after their incredible debut "Mr.Funker - The Myth", an album that is still among my all-time highlights, the band return with their sophomore release titled "Monologue" dealing again with a concept theme but in a completely different and unique way.
The album will be released in all digital platforms within February and hopefully a bit later on CD/LP format completely independently by the band while in early March we will have the opportunity to visualize all these live on stage
So speaking about "Monologue"... I am not going to get deeply into details since the full review will be on the new issue that will come out in late Feb but after 8 years of silence personally i didn't know what to expect. Or perhaps i was expecting to listen to something at least as unique as the band's debut. A new beginning ? Actually not exactly... More like a new chapter. A second chapter to GROOVE THERAPIST's legacy and "Monologue" is breathtaking without any doubt! Even the somehow short 45min long duration passed unnoticed and since we listened to the entire album in one take with no interruptions when the end came with the closing classical guitar instrumental requiem "Epekeina" (the ancient Greek word meaning "life after death") we were all left speechless and we needed a few moments to pass before we could truly express our feelings about what we have just witnessed.
"Monologue" is different from "Mr.Funker - The Myth". It is darker but not depressing since the music has an inner up-lifting joy but it deals with more personal issues and feelings and you will definitely need to listen to it over and over again to fully understand each single sound of it. Definitely an album for your sole moments, an album that you would love to listen to near the fireplace in dim lights and devour every moment of it. A true, deep sentimental moment from musicians with the clear charisma of genuine mastery and a unique sounding album that only a few bands has the ability to offer.
I don't want to say anything more as i need to listen to "Monologue" over and over again and to dive deep into each song before i will be able to unlock the entire album's majesty.
Keep your breath because soon more will be unveiled....

Achelous - Tower of High Sorcery listening Session

Last Saturday we visited the warm En Vivo Rock to attend the listening session of the new anticipating third release from Achelous titled Tower of High Sorcery dealing with the mighty Fantasy world of Dragonlance, a beloved life-work of Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman. The place was full of good friends of the band from media press and beyond and all band's members were full of anticipation and excitement sharing their new songs with us. The band's third album is a creation of two years' hard work and dedication and definitely a big step and a wager for the band after two extremely successful releases like Macedon and The Icewind Chronicles. What did we listen ? Well, i am not going to lay down all the details about the band's new release since a detailed review will follow when the album will be officially out in the pages of our next issue but we can definitely say that the band clearly won the bet. In the new album you will find the natural progression ACHELOUS has as a band and the hard work of two years in all areas and sound-wise you will recognize elements from both Macedon and The Icewind Chronicles that we all loved but also new, more symphonic and advanced arrangements in several songs and a warmer, more bombastic atmosphere and production, bringing a bigger than life sound to our ears. The album is definitely the most diverse release of ACHELOUS who manage to keep all their classic elements that will satisfy their die-hard fans but also introducing new ones that will add more disciples in their legion. Musicianship is even more advanced and all members clearly gave everything they had in Tower of High Sorcery, a concept tale about the biggest mage the Fantasy world has ever seen - Raistlin Majere. We all hope the best about the band's new album which i believe it will receive the publicity and the success it truly deserves.

As the new issue is closing its circle ( there are only a few copies left and a few reserved as well that are still waiting their owners to have them in their hands ) we are starting the preparation of the new issues... Issues ? Yes , this is the general idea.
This time we will start working for a double issue publication within a period of 4 months meaning that we will release 2 different issues , the first in the end of November and the 2nd in late January and they will be 2 special issues the one different that the other.
More details will be revealed in the following weeks but starting with the November issue you already have an idea of the issue artwork and speaking a bit more about the new issue's content this will include only unsigned bands of the underground scene that have no label contracts and have their new albums self-released in digital or psychical format. Bands that are either new or with several years in their back and truly deserve your support and the best publicity they can get through our pages and through labels / managements that will read about them in our next issue.
In parallel we will working for the January issue which it will be another surprise issue , different that any of our previous issue and it will (hopefully) come with an extra gift for all of you. But we will have the time to discuss about all these in the near future....

New issue in on printing process so let's do the Official Announcement since I estimate to have it till the end of the next week.
So as you can read in the Editorial when I finished #15 and started collecting material for the next one I discovered that within 2021 lots of releases were presented from our Greek Metal bands, therefore i thought it would be better to present all of them in a single issue and thus The Hellenic Special Issue was born.
What you will have in our hands it will be an issue full of Greek Heavy Metal while I tried to cover all possible genres from Alternative Hard Rock to Heavy/Power, Stoner, Doom , Progressive even a bit of Thrash as well.
Starting with interviews
The issue opens with the new Power Metal hopefuls Subfire and continues with Thirty Fates feat. the original line-up of the great BLACK FATE. Next we have the Alternative Experimental Rockers Grande Fox and Project Resurrect that although a US band has US/Greek guitarist Peter Rigopoulos on their ranks. Moving back inside Greek borders we have the great new ILLUSORY record and then we had a great discussion with Michalis Rinakakis about Metal Raider (and not only). ThelemitE comes next with their great new album and right after the great Black Soul Horde and the Sludge/Doom masters Acid Mammoth. Moving again outside Greece we find our own Zacharias Drosos in Germany forming INNER AXIS while in the beautiful island of Corfu we will find the Progressive Metal masters Sedate Illusion and in the Metal City of Volos the great Sinner Guard. Somewhere between Paris and Athens we find our good friend Yiannis Tziallas and probably the Progressive Metal release of 2021 with his great new band Cyclopean Walls before we finally meet one of the top Greek Power Metal bands Wardrum and guitar master Kosta Vreto II talking about the band's great new opus "Mavericks". Finally the issue is closed with one of the next big things of the Domestic scene, the modern Progressive Metal band Within Progress
All these along with 13 pages of reviews from all digital / psychical releases of the last two years that we will make a special reference in the following days.
Within 60 pages you will have the opportunity to read and witness a real roadmap of the Hellenic scene for 2020/2021.
