Out this Friday: the sophomore full length by Rotterdam based post-metal trio Gavran. The vinyl edition came out great once again, thanks to Dunkpressing! If you fancy low trembling bass, earth-shattering riffs and despairingly bleak vocals: this might be up your alley! ๐ค
This is a record that was born out of feelings of anxiety, doubt, and distress, but it is also one born into a world where those sensitivities have become far more commonplace. It presents an interesting paradox in that regard, because as the music inhabits a fairly specific niche, its themes are ones that could be seen as widely purifying in 2022.
We find these relevant themes to be compelling, but the truth is that we were initially pulled into this album because it hits with purpose on a sonic level. Ideas are always important in the music we seek out, but visceral impact is paramount.
'Indistinct Beacon' brings substantial strength and weight to the table, giving its compositions an abundant, essential impact that forges a searing impression musically. No matter where listeners choose to follow the recordโs themes from there, the vehicle driving them is on rock-solid ground.
Le temps du loup โข Leteo [single teaser]
'Leteo' can now be streamed everywhere! Taken from the eponymous Le temps du loup album coming in January 2023, 'Leteo' is the first and only song to be shared prior to the album release.
That way, we preserve the mystery inherent to the experience of listening to an album for the first time. Don't worry though, in the coming few weeks, we'll share some teasers to get you all even more excited.

Le temps du loup โข Leteo [album teaser]
Itโs been a busy year for the Spanish trio Le temps du loup after a four-year stretch that saw them release just a single track. In August we joined with them for the release of their 'Enthraller' EP, and a mere three months later weโre back with the exciting news that weโll also be delivering their followup LP 'Leteo' in January 2023!
Taking its name from one of the five rivers of the underworld in Greek mythology, 'Leteo' revolves around ideas of choice and consequence as they relate to death and afterlife. In the stories of myth, the Lethe was the river of forgetfulness, from which transitioning souls would drink in order to erase their memories and become reincarnated.
There are stories that also tell of the river Mnemosyne, whose waters had the opposite effect, preserving all the memories of those who consumed its waters. 'Leteo' seeks to explore the dynamic surrounding these two choices, each of which have their benefits and drawbacks, joys and sadnesses.
'Leteo' will be out January 27.

Outrun The Sunlight โข The Return of Inertia 2.0 [teaser]
We're stoked to announce that on February 17 2023, we'll release โThe Return of Inertia 2.0โ by Chicago instrumental progressive quintet Outrun the Sunlight on colored wax!
Find out below what the band shared about their re-imagined debut album.
"During the lockdown in 2020, we were between drummers and sitting in a time of uncertainty of this band's future. Out of curiosity to create, we began playing around with our first album, seeing what it might sound like if it was recorded by today's standards.
What started out as an exercise in production turned into a full-fledged re-recording, re-mixing, and re-mastering of the album that put this band on the map.
This record feels different, yet familiar.
For one, there's actual bass guitar on this album, played by Phil Kalas. And real drums, which were performed and recorded by our long-time friend, James Knoerl (Aviations). And lastly, much of the synths and keys were remade by our very own Kyle Kunkler & Austin Peters.
When it came time to mix, we went back to Paul Aluculesei who mixed A Vast Field of Silence, to continue evolving the sound of this band.
What came out of all of this is a record that is aggressive, expansive, exciting, and re-captures the era of metal music that was popular in 2011. And it's why we chose to name it โ2.0โ โ feeling invigorated by what was already there, and it felt appropriate to name it like an upgrade."
