An old man was eating in a truck stop when three rough-looking bikers walked in.

As they passed the old man, the first biker pushed his cigarette into the old man's pie, then laughed and took a seat at the counter.

The second biker picked up the old man's milk and spit into it. The third biker turned over the old man's plate before joining the others at the counter.

Without saying a word to the laughing bikers, the old man put his money down, got up, and left the diner. One of the bikers said to the waitress, "Not much of a man, was he?"

The waitress replied," Not much of a truck driver either. He just backed his big rig over three motorcycles!"

When we try to live apart from the counsel of God's wisdom, we suffer disillusionment, fear, doubt, worry, & frustration. Because God loves us, we have no need to worry about the future. He has a plan, not only for our lives, but for every problem we will ever face. Oswald Chambers said, "All our

"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad." (2Cor 5:10). As Christians, when we trusted Jesus to be our Savior, our names were written in the Lamb's book of life,

A quick lesson in copyright law...

Disney has safeguarded Mickey Mouse diligently, with their legal team poised to act if anyone oversteps the boundaries. It's a situation that teeters on a gray line.

Media reports have stirred a frenzy claiming Mickey Mouse is in the public domain. While partially true, it's a nuanced situation. The 1928 Steamboat Willie version, including the 'Plane Crazy' edition, is indeed in the public domain – Mickey in black and white sans gloves.

But does this mean we all now own Mickey Mouse? Not quite. The character Mickey Mouse retains protection under both Copyright laws and Trademark.

Distinguishing between Copyright and Trademark, Copyrights shield various original works, while Trademarks guard a company's name, product names, logos, and slogans.

So, what are the restrictions? Creating another black and white mouse and labeling it Mickey Mouse is a no-go. Marketing or selling the image of Mickey Mouse is also off-limits. The Copyright law didn't give ownership of Mickey Mouse. Using the name "Mickey Mouse" is likewise prohibited.

On the flip side, what's permissible? The public gains the right to creatively use the first black-and-white Disney characters strictly as they appear in the 1928 animated short film “Steamboat Willie” and its silent version “Plane Crazy.” However, using later aggregated versions, such as in 'Fantasia,' is restricted.

As we step into 2024, it appears to be a busy year for Disney lawyers, exacerbated by the media misinforming the public. While the ‘Steamboat Willie’ copyright expiration affects the early versions, the more modern Mickeys remain unaffected, ensuring Mickey continues as the iconic Disney symbol we recognize.

A rich young woman sat beside a poor elderly man on a plane. She alerted the flight attendant upon taking her seat.
The flight attendant answered warmly, when the woman abruptly said, “Please find me another seat immediately.” The flight attendant responded, “I’m sorry Ma’am, but the economy cabin is fully booked.”

The rich woman replied, “But I’m not going to travel beside a worthless bum. Do something.”

While the elderly man stared in disbelief, the flight attendant responded, “I’ll talk to the Captain about this.”

The flight attendant went to the Captain and asked, “Captain, a woman feels uncomfortable sitting beside a poor elder man. What should we do?”

Surprisingly, the Captain’s face changed. He looked amused and said, “This woman is interesting. I’ve never encountered an issue like this before. I have a plan. Listen..”

And the Captain relayed to the flight attendant what he wants to do. The flight attendant was stunned at his plan. In fact, she was amazed.

A few minutes later, the flight attendant returned. “The Captain said we could use an open seat in First Class. He also wants to apologize for having to travel with such a terrible person.”

As the woman rose out of her seat, the flight attendant reached out her arm towards the poor elderly man. “Sir will you please follow me?” To which the plane applauded.

Never look down on other people. We are all equal in God’s sight. Regardless of what you have achieved in life, stay humble. Keep your feet on the ground. The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.

In Walker County, Alabama, a unique trend is emerging as residents and businesses discover the untapped potential of used Christmas trees. A growing number of individuals are recognizing the financial value hidden within their old holiday decorations and are seizing the opportunity to turn them into unexpected sources of income.

Within this newfound market, a curious phenomenon unfolds as used Christmas trees, once symbols of holiday cheer, become commodities with surprisingly high price tags. Local residents and businesses alike have embraced the idea of selling their retired evergreens at staggering prices, aiming to alleviate financial burdens such as utility bills, mortgages, rent, and even grocery expenses.

The once vibrant greenery of these trees now takes on a different kind of significance, transforming into a means of financial support for those seeking relief in their day-to-day expenses. The market showcases a variety of trees, some bearing signs of the passage of time, with needles fading and browning – a testament to their former holiday service.

It's not uncommon to find price tags exceeding $120 or more attached to these used Christmas trees, reflecting the perceived value that both sellers and buyers attribute to these festive relics. The community witnesses a blend of curiosity and willingness to invest in what is now considered an unconventional yet valuable resource.

For sellers, parting ways with a beloved Christmas tree becomes an act of financial empowerment, a creative way to address pressing needs. Meanwhile, buyers see these trees not just as decorations but as symbols of sustainability and repurposing, contributing to a novel and eco-friendly approach to holiday traditions.

As this trend gains momentum, it underscores the resilience and adaptability of communities in finding innovative solutions to economic challenges. The used Christmas tree market in Walker County becomes a reflection of resourcefulness, where the spirit of the season extends beyond festivities to encompass a shared commitment to supporting one another in times of need.

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ." (Galatians 6:2). Many believers object to the idea of accountability because they don't see how other people's actions are any of their business—and they refuse to allow anyone into theirs. Others mistakenly believe...

The Walker County Homeless Coalition has collaborated with Coleman Camping Supplies to create a remarkable initiative – the production of innovative "Urban Tents" fully equipped with wheels.

These mobile shelters are being crafted to address the visibility of the homeless population in Walker County, Alabama.

This impactful collaboration aims to provide a practical and efficient solution to the visibility of individuals experiencing homelessness in the region.

The partnership with Coleman Camping Supplies signifies a commitment to creating shelter options that cater specifically to reducing the visibility of those without stable housing, thereby making Walker County appear to be an area without a homeless population.

The "Urban Tents" on wheels offer at least a partial solution to the problem of hiding the homeless community in Walker County.

This innovative approach not only addresses the immediate need for getting homeless people out of sight and it also provides homeless individuals with a means of portability in hopes that they will move along and invest other areas outside of Walker County.

The project reflects the dedication of the Walker County Homeless Coalition and Coleman Camping Supplies to make a positive impact on the lives of those who are not homeless by giving those who are homeless a means and an incentive to "move along". It is widely believed that such proactive measures can bring tangible invisibility to the local homeless population.
