I was about to write a post for my video I just finished on how great Brazil was and what an amazing experience I had here; to then find out this morning that a travel friend of mine who I only saw 3 days ago, has been slashed in the face with a knife and robbed in broad daylight in Rio. It makes me feel so sick inside that this happened to him (must have been so scary!), and I am truly sorry he went through that - and is still going through in a hospital in Rio as I type this.
I guess I could say I am lucky nothing bad happened to me and that I had a good time in Brazil; but it really sucks that things like this can happen anywhere in the world and stops others from travelling to those places. Even the poor young British backpacker who was murdered in little safe NZ just before Christmas..
I met some lovely locals and other travellers here and enjoyed the car-less island of Isla Grande and my amazing NY on Copacabana Beach.
Had fun pool-filled, BBQ chill time volunteering in Rio das Ostras as well as seeing a travel friend who I met in Madrid in his home of BC.
It has been great, but this morning highlighted the bad side of Brazil and I sincerely hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else x
Ecuador video is up 😊🇪🇨 Really enjoyed Montañita and my 'me time' in Vilcabamba. Ecuador has some stunning scenery. A shame I didn't get to Baños and Galapagos was out of my budget this trip - perhaps another time 🙂

Medellin, the beautiful Guatape, Bogota and the salsa capital - Cali.
(No night shots from Bogota or Cali I'm sorry to say as it was too unsafe to take phone/bag out, however Cali was great for Salsa!).
Highly recommend the Comuna 13 tour in Medellin, the walking tour in Bogota and the walking food tour in Cali (which also highlights their main graffiti art and a bit of history too).
