How TPP Came to Be
On a cool February day, two men from different backgrounds, joined forces to create short films that would bring joy and entertainment to the masses. Those two men are Jeremy Lowery and Chuck Morgan. Technically their story starts well before that cool February day. They first worked on a set together for a Easter film Jeremy was filming for his church. Having not worked together, and only having met briefly at a work Christmas dinner, they wanted to see how they could get along. So Chuck drove to Jeremy’s house to assist with Jeremy’s Easter film. Some how, pushing the dolly and being an extra impressed Jeremy so much that he just had to team up with Chuck!
It around one month before the 54 Hour Film Festival, and still not having made a short film together, Chuck and Jeremy decided to replicate the festival’s rules and come up with a short film on the fly using elements provided in a yellow envelope. This impromptu short is also the first collaboration with Daniel Maples and Jason Messing, both of whom would become Twin Pines regulars. After coming up with a story in less than an hour, they began filming what would become “Daymare”. While it was released after their 54 Hour Film Festival entry, this is the first official Twin Pines Pictures short.
They then filmed “In the Eyes of the Law” for the 54 Hour Film Festival, which one also be the debut of Brandon Anthony, who would become a regular of Twin Pines. While “In the Eyes” didn’t take home any awards, it would provide Chuck and Jeremy with the motivation to discover and hone their style of film.
Since that cool February day, Twin Pines Pictures has released 29 short films and Shorty Shorts, and started the Love it OR Riff it podcast! Chuck and Jeremy are still writing, discussing, planning, filming short films with no end in site.
