A reminder to stay off those major roads, though, if you can help it. The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is warning residents that road conditions are very dangerous, right now.
[VIDEO] State leaders in Georgia have activated the emergency operations center to keep track on snowfall across Georgia as winter weather sets in. Georgia (especially the line below Columbus-Macon-Augusta) could see up to 5 inches of snow in the coming days. The Georgia DOT has brined roads, and has 400+ snow plows ready to be deployed. Crews will treat interstates and critical routes but their message to drivers: STAY OFF THE ROADS. They say with low road temperatures, the roads will be slick and black ice will make it difficult to drive.
The Governor is closing state offices in Atlanta and state offices in Wednesday due to the severe weather.
