I turned 49 last week, and so I’ve started planning 50 things to do at 50…

As I enter my last year of my 40s, I want to squeeze the pips out of life and make it my best year ever!

I'm so blessed to have a course-based business has given me so freedom and flexibility.

But it wasn't always that way...

When I first started my business, I thought that if I maxed out my workload, I'd scale the business.

Juggling it all and trying to please my family, I realised that it wasn't working.

I was stuck trading time for money...

From an outside perspective, it looks like I had it sorted: Loved what I was doing. A steady stream of inquiries. A few glimpses of serious success along the way.

But I had a son who wanted me to be fully present 🥰 and…

I walked 23 miles in 24 hours over the weekend carrying a backpack and tent and camped out overnight…

Not bad for someone who turned 49 last week

There were moments of fear as I climbed down the rocks in a quarry…

And joy at the incredible weather and views…

Those highs and lows are the same in entrepreneurship...

Some days it's a real struggle to stay mentally afloat...

And other days I'm winning at life.

I’d love to tell you my journey to selling a million dollars of courses was all sparkles and sequins...

But I’ve gotta be honest: it was NOT!

I'm not a natural entrepreneur. I suck at selling... I cringe at myself regularly...

Freedom, flexibility and fun really matter to me…

The freedom to work how I like, where I like…

The flexibility to care for my autistic son and run a business that works for me (and him). I love adventure. It’s at the heart of who I am, and while my adventures are a little curtailed these days, I still love my mini adventure for day or two

And FUN… because finding happiness in the little things is so important. And having the freedom to work how I like, means we can find that joy in our daily life without feeling like we’re on the 9-5 treadmill

My little boy starts back at school today.

And while I’m sad for all the lovely memories and time we’ve had together this summer, I’m also excited to get back to work.

I’m so lucky that I can take the summer off and fit around his life, rather than having to feel guilty being on the working treadmill.

That’s the beauty of passive income…

It’s the last day of the summer holidays…

I’ve had such a lovely time this summer with my son, with lots of adventures and fun: Morocco, Devon and Cyprus

I sort of feel like it’s back to reality with a bump

I am so grateful for the life I’ve consciously curated.

I’ve worked hard to create that freedom and flexibility for my son so I can step away from the business

I’m looking forward to getting stuff done too, but I feel sad that summer is ending…

I started my side hustle while setting up a TV station in 50C heat in the desert 🤪

I would work on my business on my days off, and then do the day job.

I focused on building up my coaching clients while working shifts in the newsroom.

It was far from perfect and often Skype was sketchy, but I just started.

Whatever stage of business you are, if you’re wanting to create that new income stream, launch a membership or course...

There’s no point waiting and wondering.

There will never be the perfect time.

Start small, start scrappy and experiment with what works.
