Summer is upon us! 🤣🙌 Lovely rosé!
The Quinta do Vallado Touriga Nacional Rosé is a rosé wine produced in the Douro Valley, Portugal, by Quinta do Vallado, one of the region’s oldest and most renowned estates, established in 1716.
• Grape Variety: 100% Touriga Nacional, sourced from selected vineyard plots, often from higher elevations to ensure lower alcohol content and higher acidity.
• Vinification: The wine is made using the “Bica Aberta” method (without skin contact), with fermentation lasting approximately one month at controlled temperatures between 14ºC and 16ºC. It is typically aged for 3–5 months in stainless steel vats to preserve its fresh and fruity profile.
• Tasting Notes:
• Color: Pale pink to bright salmon, sometimes with a cherry or peach hue.
• Aroma: Floral notes (roses) and wild red fruits, such as strawberry, raspberry, and cherry, with occasional hints of pomegranate, lime blossoms, or lemon zest. Some descriptions note mineral or herbal undertones.
• Palate: Soft and crisp with ripe red fruit flavors, balanced by vibrant acidity and a fresh, elegant finish. It’s described as delicate yet structured, with a smooth texture.
• Analytical Data (2022/2023 Vintages):
