In loooooove with this commission by of my sweet Disco. We named Disco after one of our favorite Widespread Panic songs and Ross added a bit of a musical touch to this painting with the headphones. We want to fill you in on , who has been through the ringer these past couple of weeks. Rachel’s business endured a major fire along with other local businesses culminating in a total loss of the building. It has taken a little bit to get organized and move onward but after this devastating loss, has secured space in her previous location at and is seeing patients again. It was uplifting to see this community’s support and well wishes. Rachel’s positivity and resiliency is inspiring. This year tested a new format of working with multiple photographers and it went fabulously! took a handful of our Volume 12 photos and we loved working with her. “The start of the new year is a great time to set intentions: personally and professionally. Every stay-at-home-mom has the moment (at least I did), no matter how much they love their kids, when they wonder ”Is there more I could be doing? Something I can call my own?“

Well, I had that moment in 2010 when I started my blog, Scout Charlottesville, to encourage locals and visitors to stop into our amazing shops and restaurants here in Charlottesville. From there, I was soon collaborating with my friend and photographer, Christy Ford, to produce the very first guide. After that, we expanded—now you can find TSG in 85+ cities. What a beautiful journey it’s been! One I’m incredibly grateful for and proud of.

You may be asking, why am I sharing this with you? As we turn the page from 2023, I invite you to set your own intentions and explore joining our network of incredible entrepreneurs nationwide supporting local businesses in their own communities. This could be your time to call something your own, but never feel alone in doing so. We’re here every step of the way!
