Handmade craft, digitally assisted design and playful soft sculptures were among the highlights of this year’s NYC x Design. This year we were struck by the work from Vietnamese-American ceramic studio Vy Voi which nods to the history of Vietnamese ceramics with its porcelain lamps with distinct glazes. The collection’s shapes and streaked, imperfect colours are inspired by natural phenomena, such as sprouting mushrooms, moss on bark and sunlight.

To counter the hyper-stimulating rush of digital life, stores are reimagining minimalism. These spaces are designed to enhance a sense of wellbeing through sensorial respite. Indian brand Superkicks’ 2,400 sq ft sneaker store uses locally produced materials, including sandstone, terrazzo and terracotta inspired by Delhi’s historic Red Fort.

How does the post-perfection generation want to buy beauty? Gen Zers have rebuffed the high-maintenance millennial look in favour of a more authentic, grittier and even sleazier aesthetic. Brands are tapping into this by using hypersexual imagery, marketing products to combat the impact of hedonism on skin and embracing indie sleaze.

A quarter of global travellers are willing to pay more for activities that give back to local communities.

To better engage with this cohort, and to ensure greater sustainable futures, businesses across the tourism industry need to align their goals with these mindsets and integrate eco-positive actions.

Gen Xers (born between 1965-80) continue to feel misunderstood in a brandscape still broadly focused on appealing to younger or older consumers. So what makes the current generation of mid-lifers tick?

Stylus' Emily Gordon-Smith maps out four key themes to help you decipher their style preferences and tap into this underserved yet lucrative demographic:

1. Semi-dedicated followers of fashion
2. Pragmatism-first
3. Evolved personal style
4. The comfort sweet spot and search for perfection

Which of these A/W 23 looks will you be trialling?

Following on the heels of Milan, Paris Fashion Week offered punchy pastel pigments, smudged along the lower lash line at Victoria Beckham, delivering a fresh and youthful look.

A celestial and intergalactic aesthetic continued into PFW, with metallic eyes and lips at Off-White, paired with hyper sleek hair, adorned with silver hair accessories symbolising the sun.

Sleek hair also took a geometric turn, with Issey Miyake dissecting the parting into surprising triangular shapes.

Swipe to see all three looks. Members, stay tuned for our fourth and final Fashion Week report dropping this week.

It’s your final dose of A/W 23 fashion and beauty inspiration.

Rounding out the fashion weeks, Paris gave us decorative devores to update classic items like the blazer, with velvet hitting the sweet spot.

Timeless, dressed-up and thoughtful design are the cornerstones for next season, typified by Saint Laurent’s perfect Little Black Dress.

Finally, Paris confirmed chrome yellow as THE hottest colour for outerwear next winter, seen here at Valentino.

And so, to beauty. Our experts share their standout hair and make-up looks from the A/W23 Milan runways.

Sweeping Side Parts: Exaggerated side parts are a key takeaway. Sleek hair is pulled over the crown, with dishevelled strands swiping across the forehead enhancing the dramatic look.

Captivating Lashes: Colourful feathery lashes spanning pale pastels and khaki greens result in a disruptive illusion, creating a sweet yet subversive aesthetic.

Two-Tone Texture: A combination of wet and dry texture is also a key look from Milan, with sleek oily roots transitioning into airy volumous curls.

Which of these looks will you be experimenting with? Tell us in the comments below.

Rounding out the fashion weeks, Milan brought a softer edge to A/W 23. Here are our experts’ favourite looks from the MFW runways, starting with fashion.

Winter Coral: Pink goes in a new direction in Milan with a softer winter coral hitting the sweet spot, making this the perfect antidote to the winter blues.

Tufty Tales: Forget this winter’s teddy fleeces, the new look is for exaggerated tufty textures that works for both outerwear and knits.

Take to the Skies: The classic aviator jacket gets a 2023 makeover in new fashion colours and high-shine patent effects.

Bringing you part two of our experts’ favourite beauty looks from the recent runways. This time, London Fashion Week:

Gothic Glam: Statement black lips at Bora Aksu are amplified by clean complexions, with black organza and lace hair accessories heightening the gothic feel.

Whimsi Goth: A more whimsical take was seen at Chet Lo, with dispersed feathery lashes and subtle shimmery shadow creating a gentle ghostly allure.

Artful Braids: Sculpturesque braids are displayed at Simone Rocha, with artful plaits draping down the neck and curved shapes extending along the scalp.

Swipe for more visual inspiration. Stay tuned for Milan Design Week highlights dropping tomorrow.

It’s your beauty round-up from New York and London Fashion Week.

Our experts have selected six noteworthy looks from the runways to get excited for. Here’s part one:

Volumous Curls: Volumous curls are a key takeaway from NYFW this season, with shows spotlighting airy and tight bouncy curls that embrace natural hair texture.

Galactic Metallics: Another key look is metallic make-up, spanning lustrous eyes, holographic glazes and shimmering lips, creating an intergalactic feel.

Bleached Brows: Additionally, bold bleached brows are a key highlight from NYFW. Notably, these key looks demonstrate how a bleached brow can be used to add fierce elegance instead of a typically grungy feel.
