A black Georgia State Senator was arrested in the Georgia State capital yesterday. State Senator Nikema Williams said, “In 2018, I’d never thought that I’d be arrested for standing up for my right to vote,” Williams dictated. “I was removed from the state capitol, and I work as a state senator for supporting my people’s right to vote. This is 2018. We were peacefully protesting.” As told to The New Yorker.
Georgia voters are demanding every vote be counted in the governors race between Democrat Stacey Abrams and Republican Brian Kemp. If Kemp goes below 50% of the vote from the November 6th election, a runoff election between Abrams and Kemp will be held in December. Abrams is within 21,000 votes of Kemp. Senator Williams was standing with her constituents demanding every vote in the race be counted.

We sat down with three black families. The Whitfield’s, The Palmer’s, and the Chambers Family to discuss fatherhood and what makes a man. Three different families, with different stories.
Our goal this Father’s Day Weekend is to show that no matter what your journey is. If you had a mother and father at home. If you just had your mother or just your father. If your extended family stepped up to help raise you when your parents weren’t there. No matter what your story or journey, you can take your situation and become a #BetterMan.

We need to ask serious questions before we vote to approve the school boards tax this spring. If they won’t give us equity in investing in our schools, why should we give them our tax dollars?
