Rōbi Ventures - Nomads On Tour Welcome to Robi Ventures! Empty nesters who love to travel, so we sold everything, bought an RV and became Full Time Rvers! That is a thing...isn’t it?

Thank you for following along, as we share all of our travel adventures with you as we tour around America!! After we became empty nesters, we decided it was time to sell our house and to move out of Missouri. While we did talk of all the places we could potentially live, we just couldn’t agree on one in particular. We weren’t sure exactly where we’d be happy, so we thought, why not just travel? W

e could just buy an RV and travel all around the country, “trying out” various cities and states, until we find that one place that feels like home. So we jumped right into the RV life not fully aware of what we were doing, what to expect or what we really even wanted. But by becoming nomads, it would give us the chance to fulfill our dreams of finally being able to see amazing places such as the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Monument Valley and so many more! Fast forward to life now.....

We love traveling around in our RV, touring the country while living this nomadic lifestyle! Because let’s face it, how awesome is it, that we can have a different view out of our windows on any given day? Living this life of travel, having the freedom to just go anywhere, that was never a dream of ours; but we realize now it should have been. We feel truly blessed to be living this amazing life of having the ability and the freedom to travel all around our country. You don’t have to live the traditional life you’ve always known; you can choose to live a life of travel, to escape that monotonous 9-5! We did...we chose to live life to the fullest!! We love sharing our travels with everyone here and it also gives us a way to keep our families in the loop on where we are and what we’ve been up to! So if your curious as well, follow along on our adventures as we what this amazing lifestyle and country have to offer!

After finishing up the Freedom Trail, we decided that since we had a couple of hours before our commuter train left, we’d hop on the T and head over to check out Fenway Park, the oldest ballpark park in MLB. Of course we didn’t think to check to see if there was a game that night, so off we went. Eventually we started noticing more and more people getting on at each stop, wearing their Red Socks gear. Then we heard the announcement that the trains were all full for the last 3 stops before Fenway. So we, along with everyone else, got off at this stop. We were suddenly part of this massive crowd of Bostonians as they eagerly walked to the ballpark. It was only for a few minutes, but it was quite fun to be a part of that commotion, the buzz of the heightened anticipation of evening’s coming game. After we got there, we snapped a few pics and quickly retraced our steps back to the T. We had just enough time to visit a local pub you might have heard of called ‘Cheers’. Unfortunately they were closed for a private party, so we didn’t get to see the actual bar set, just the iconic facade.

We got to explore the main deck and 2 lower decks of the USS Constitution. Some of the things we took from the build of this ship, is that men must have been extremely short, had small feet and been extremely agile back then! Joking, but seriously some of the beams that ran through the ship were under 5.5 feet, as even I (Amy), had to duck most of the time while walking around. All the ladder steps were narrow and extremely steep. You basically had to balance on your toes and the balls of your feet to use them and go slow so you didn’t fall or knock yourself out. It was so interesting to explore this ship, that played such an important part of American history.

We finally reached Bunker Hill and got to experience the monument…all 294 steps of it! Going up the spiral stone steps of this monument is quite a feat, but you get to take in nearly 360 views of the city, once you reach the top. After descending, with our legs feeling a bit wobbly, we continued on, with the last part of the Freedom Trail, to see the USS Constitution. This is the American battleship that defeated the British warship HMS Guerriere in the War of 1812. It’s one of the most famous vessels in US history, also known as ‘Old Ironsides’.

We got to experience the famous Quincy Market, see some incredible historical architecture, and to see Paul Reveres house, which is the last remaining structure from the 17th century. We did not go in, bc the line looked to be at least 2 hrs long. We waited for 10 minutes and it never moved, so we continued on. We got to see the church where Revere signaled the lanterns to warn the country of the arrival of the British troops and so much more as we continued to Bunker Hill!

Sunday was a nearly a full 12 hr day! We hired a dog walker for the pups, so we could explore all of Boston that we could in one day. So we didn’t have to deal with traffic we decided to drive to the closest Train Station, park and take a commuter rail into the heart of the city! We got to ride on the top of a double decker car, which was cool. Started our day off in the city at Boston Commons, est in 1634, America's oldest public park. From there we took off to follow the red brick 2.5 mile path of the historic Freedom Trail.

Had a fun evening walking around Portsmouth on Saturday. We had dinner down on the waterfront with a co-worker of Steve’s and his wife. Since they were familiar with the area, they showed us all around downtown. We got to experience just how vibrant & lively this town can be. We were so busy just enjoying ourselves, we didn’t actually take many pictures.

And even though it was over 90 degrees out, we kept exploring! After seeing Plymouth Rock & The Mayflower II, we checked out some shops and walked around through some of the historic area on our way to see The Plimoth Grist Mill at Jenny Pond. It was built in the late 1960s and is a working replica of the original mill that stood on this site back in 1636.

The lengths we will go to, to see a good fireworks show!🤪 We left our campground around 6:15 pm, and drove approximately 45 mins to the closest train station (w/o having to change trains), parked the car and then rode the train for an hour all the way into downtown Boston! Steve & I, along with approximately half a million other people (no joke), descended upon the Charles River Esplanade, to be able to watch the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular. We walked around for quite a while, before eventually ending up in a nearly perfect location to view them. The fireworks show didn’t start until 10:30 pm and it lasted for 20 minutes. Once it was over, us along with what seemed like half of Boston, proceeded to shuffle our way out back into the streets. Thankfully it wasn’t too hot or it might have smelled so much worse in such close proximity with all those people. Walking as quickly as we were able, we found our way back to the station, hopped quickly onto a very crowded train and headed out of the city. After another hour train ride and 45 minute car ride, we eventually made it back home around 1:30am. Whew, what a night!

On Sunday we took an afternoon drive to explore the Cape all the way down to the end of the sandy hook. Our first destination was to check out Race Point Lighthouse, but after realizing it was a 2 mile hike each way in the sand, we decided to skip it. So we drove through the quaint little town of Provincetown & it’s Historic District. We weren’t able to get out and explore here, as we couldn’t find any available parking whatsoever. Drove over to see the Pilgram Monument & Provincetown Museum, but decided it wasn’t worth $60 and we had the pups with us. Did anyone else know, that Provincetown Harbor was the actual site of the Mayflower Pilgrims’ first landing in the New World in 1620 & where they drew up the Mayflower Compact??🤯Anyways, after leaving P-Town, we began the drive back up the Cape heading over to the Eastham area. Had hoped to see the Highland Lighthouse in Truro, but missed our turnoff for it. Definitely wanted to make sure we got to see the Nauset “Cape Cod” Lighthouse, that’s part of the Cape Cod National Sea Shore, so we just kept going. To our surprise the lighthouse was open for tours, which they said were only offered 2 days a week. Score‼️We left there just before a big storm rolled in and began dumping buckets of rain! We ended up driving through lots of heavy rain along the coast up to Chatham. We drove over to see the Chatham Lighthouse, not realizing it had no access as it is owned by the US Coast Guard. Thankfully it was only spritzing a little by then and we were able to stop outside the gate at least and get some pics. Then we continued along the coast up to Hyannis to grab some dinner, before heading back to the campground. The amazing coastal views, along with so many beautiful homes, throughout the Cape were definitely photo worthy, but we just enjoyed viewing them, not taking the time to snap any pics.
