This film was originally released under its own title as a stand alone film rather than part of the Edgar Wallace series of films. Jack Greenwood wanted to make other supporting features and did. When the Edgar Wallace films were sold to television Act of Murder was included along with some other titles…it’s a fine production with quite a shock ending for the time…

Quite a few years ago we had a talk with Bruce Beeby who plays a lead part in this movie. It’s made partly at Merton Park studios and on location in the London theatre.

He recounted how silly the ending was and when we asked him why he told us they had simply run out of money so could not film what they had hoped to be the ending! As it stands the ending works but it’s all very quick. He couldn’t recall what they had originally planned.

Bruce Beeby played in many films and television shows but as with many actors the stage was his favourite. Coincidentally he spent the later part of his life living not far from the site of Merton Park studios.
