Reunited, Annie, Naso and Osani search for Pika as an old foe wages war with both human and animal kingdoms. To help Naso and Osani understand the imminent danger, Annie shares how a secret warrior society and spirit animals trained her over the past few years when she disappeared. More importantly, she's learned about the Middle Kingdom and how it connects heaven and hell. She reveals that Yanluo, the King of Hell, has escaped, and they must find Pika to help them save the human and animal kingdoms from the spirits who wish to destroy them. Together again, they learn that faith, family and love grows from the seeds sown within their own hearts.

This classic is nearly impossible to describe. It's an amazing fantastical collection of imaginary Chinese creatures possibly created in the 4th century BC and evolved over the centuries by various writers and artists. Considered one of the great classics of Chinese literature, The Classic of Mountains and Seas, has been reimagined by two imaginative young Chinese writers with an amazing translation from Howard Goldblatt (one of my favorite translators). One of the four great classics in Chinese literature, Journey to the West, has been retranslated. This new adaptation is a wonderful read and will welcome a new generation to a rollicking fantasy adventure! I enjoyed re-reading one of my favorites. For those who've seen the Monkey King stories in western comics and movies, this is the original. I'm still here and still writing🤪 Sorry, I haven't posted much this year as I've been working crazy on The Rabbit Princess: Book 3 (to be named later). Book 3's been the hardest--but creatively very enjoyable--to write. Several plot lines are coming to a critical interchange. I've done a complete rewrite over a dozen times, and I still haven't gotten to the editing part. But I'm enjoying the journey! ~ R. Chen
