A little korero, let’s awhi in June with some honesty. . Be vulnerable, it’s what makes you brave. Be compassionate, it’s what makes you strong. You’re brain absorbs knowledge but it’s the desire to learn more that makes you better. Our humanity lives in moments where we pause, look up into each other’s faces, and smile from the heart through the eyes. . When we’re white we do not have the experience, thus the authority to speak on the injustices seen today. . But we all have friends and whanau who are not white. Turn to them. Close your mouth. Listen. Hold that desire to ask questions back for two seconds. Rest in humility. Realise what it means not to know such injustice and sit in that silence ready to learn. . If you’re asked to comment, ask an indigenous voice to take your place, show respect for Maori, Pasifika, Aboriginal, First Nation, Native American and African voices. . The time is now.
