Mathcore/Progressive Metal

Formed in late 2011, Maneating Orchid plays a dense blend of heavy music with metal, noise, and prog/psych-rock influences. With dissonant guitars, abrasive vocals, noise passages, and bizarre song structures, the band has been pushing the boundaries of heavy music in the subcontinent and remains one of the most original bands to emerge from the region. In 2016, Maneating Orchid released their self-titled debut EP, with Rolling Stone calling it “one of the best cult classics of 2016” & “one of the most intriguing metal releases of the year.” The band released its first full-length record “Miasma” in January 2019 which received praise from various publications worldwide. The band released its sophomore LP “Hive Mind” in March 2022 which featured a dialed-up sonic intensity as well as a raw & honest yet ferocious production, pushing their notorious brand of chaotic prog into more aggressive territories. The band will be performing “Hive Mind” in its entirety along with a few tracks from older releases at the show.

On 30th January, 2014 Kolkata \m/etalheads organised the Abomination chapter 1 and from that day it became a saga of 9 years of harmony and chaos for the kolkata.

In these 9 years 50+ bands played this festival alongside so many Indian and global bands which enriched the kolkata metal scene in every way. Among so many gigs ABOMINATION always had a different pull and have become well recognised national stage. With every year it became bigger and louder. Bands like Zygnema , CHRONIC XORN , Trainwreck , Undying Inc , Yonsample , GingerFeet, What Escapes Me , Noyze Akademi , Evil Conscience , Orphic Cosmogony , Dark Carnage and many more performed and conquered the stage and hearts of kolkata scene.

This year its going to be the 9th Edition, The Abomination Chapter IX ( THE RITUAL ) on 6th August and its going be a day full rage and speed. This year there are some new addition alongside the live bands.
These below are the new attractions of Chapter 9:
1. A merchandise market for all the bands from the local scene where every band from the scene can sale there merch
2. A Gaming zone and some game competitions
3. Local arti fact vendors with there products
4. A dedicated anime zone for anime lovers
