Reggae is one of the only genres of music to influence all other music and peoples of the world. It brings unity and peace across all nations. One only has to look at countries like Europe, Japan and further a field to see it influence. There are many talented and committed artists in the world of Reggae and Dancehall who are pushing on the road to success with little or no support and one such artist is Future di Captain aka Clifton Clifford Grant. Future di Captain through devotion and commitment to reaching the world through his music has sacrificed his time, energy and efforts to ensure that the world recognises Reggae / Dancehall Music for what it is. In Futures words ‘Reggae / Dancehall music is inspirational, full of messages which shares knowledge and wisdom to the world ’. In the society in which we live Future use his lyrics to instil a sense of value and morals for those who chose to listen to his tracks which is to be applauded Future di Captain was born in Portmore, Jamaica in 1980's where he lived and was schooled Portmore and in St Ann’s and later went to live in Kingston, Jamaica until he came to the UK in 2003. Captain like any young person growing up in Jamaica had a vibes for music from a very young age and the more he heard artists singing the more he was drawn towards creating his own lyrics and riddims. His first major influence was Bounty Killa until he started listening to Vybz Kartel. Bounty Killa influence was predominately his style of deejaying and his general persona in music. Whilst with Vybz Kartel it was about his incredible ability to be to be very creative and his amazing Deejay style but most of all his lyrics/ Songwriter skills due to his style of delivering his music and impart the mentor that Captain looks to. The key role model and major influence in Future di Captain’s music is the 2 greatest legend of all time the Bob Marley and Vybz Kartel.
