I have no words to express my gratitude.

Singapore: HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, His Majesty’s Representative and President of the Bhutan Olympic Committee, graced the Opening Ceremony of the International Olympic Committee's Inaugural Esports Week in Singapore. The event, which took place yesterday at the Suntec Convention Center, was attended by dignitaries including government officials from Singapore, members of the International Olympic Committee, officials from the International Sports Federations, and over 100 athletes participating in ten distinct sports disciplines.

During the opening, His Excellency, the President of the International Olympic Committee, Dr. Thomas Bach, portrayed on a hologram delivered a statement emphasizing the unifying power of the Olympic Movement and its extension into the realm of esports. He expressed the aim of the Olympic Esports Series 2023 was to create an additional platform for both players and fans to engage in elite competition. Furthermore, he also highlighted the potential for collaboration across various domains, such as health and wellbeing, training, and innovation.

Later in the evening, HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck attended the 140th International Olympic Session held virtually from Singapore. During this session, based on the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee's Executive Board, the IOC Session made the decision to withdraw the recognition of the International Boxing Association (IBA) in accordance with Rule 3.7 of the Olympic Charter.

Today, HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, in his capacity as a member of the Olympic Council of Asia's Advisory Committee, attended a meeting alongside esteemed colleagues from the Asian Sporting fraternity. Chaired by Mr. Ser Maing Ng, the advisory committee engaged in discussions encompassing various matters and subjects, with a particular focus on the forthcoming Presidential and other elections of the Olympic Council of Asia, scheduled to take place in Bangkok, Thailand, on the 8th of July during the Olympic Council of Asia’s 42nd General Assembly.
