Here are some of my favourite tips.

Here’s a deeper dive into each of these tips:

1- PRACTICE 🐟 Practice often and quickly instead of seldom and long. Record your casts and compare them to cast lessons on YouTube to spot errors and correct them.
2- THE GRIP 🐟 Let the rod work for you. Use the power of your left hand on dbl handed rods. The right one is just holding and following the movement.
3- THE LINE 🐟 Focus on good casts you can control. Instead of hitting the water too hard, wade in longer or try fishing from another angle if possible.
4- SMOOTH LANDING 🐟 If your line is splashing the water, focus your eye ca 2m above the water level/landing spot when you cast.
5- TAKE A BREAK 🐟 If your casts are off, take a break for 15 minutes. The rhythm of casting will get into your muscle memory.
6- HAVE FUN 🎣 (I added this one in here because it’s important too)

Hope this comes in handy 🥰 Would love to hear your favourite tip or what you learnt that changed the most along the way? Sometimes it’s just little things that change a lot.

Did you know the tradition of Icelandic sweaters started back in the 16th century with hand warmers? 72.000 pairs of socks and 12.000 pairs of mittens were exported from Iceland in the year 1624, long before our tourists came and when we were only 50.000 habitants.
It wasnt until around the second world war the iconic „lopapeysa“ came to light inspired from Norway and the pearl collars of Greenland. What makes the sweater so special is its functionality with the icelandic wool making it both warm and water resistant.

I´ve always been fascinated by traditions and the icelandic „lopapeysa“ always interested me. While spending times outdoors I´ve had many, fitting them in my waders but feeling feminine sometimes was a bit challenging along with the ithcing the fabric gave me.
But I believe tradition can be held and upgraded to our needs and wants. So I wanted to blend traditional style of the classic sweater to take a more modern form.
Working with local artisans, I adjusted some things to make it assume a more feminine shape which I had been looking for while holding the tradition and its perfect warm and waterproof abilities. Then some leg warmers for the boots to match. I hope you like it as I enjoyed the work and outcome.
What do you think of our icelandic sweaters? Have you had a lopapeysa?💙

Farmed salmon are being caught in Icelandic rivers right now. Farmed salmon from an open-net pen (OPN) in the Westfjords escaped after the company did not do underwater monitoring on the pen for more than three months ! They are now swimming up Icelandic rivers and breeding, causing irreversible damage to wild salmon 😞 Surprisingly the authorities (Fiskistofa) decided to stop monitoring the situation while they waited for tests to confirm the origin of what then turned out to be farmed salmon in our rivers.  I hope our authorities wake up and realise the salmon are counting on us and need our help. This kind of neglect is inexcusable and a complete natural disaster.
Until our government wants to care with action, I hope you can help:

-       Share the news. Help the authorities wake up.
-       Do not eat or buy farmed salmon from open-net pens (OPN).
-       If at a restaurant, ask where the salmon comes from to raise awareness for the wilds population extreme threats.

Greenland was amazing and full of adventures. Saw and caught endless of char. Best of all was spending time with great people and getting back on the boat with our guide Peter. The sea was rougher than before in July and the char much more colourful this late season. We fished for them in rivers and lakes. I got to be a guest on and took Mario out char fishing in Greenland. My son is already a big fan of the show so I can’t wait to watch it with him when it’s out. Hope to make my little guy proud ♥️
I hope you have had some fun adventures lately and more to come 😊 Photo Credit: 📸

I think it's important to fish with my daughter and my son. Here are just a few reasons why I encourage them to explore the natural world every day:
🌊 Physical activity: Nature invites kids to run, climb, hike and play. This is good for their bodies and their souls.
🌿 Creativity: Exploration encourages children to make decisions and solve problems. Should I follow this path or that one? Build a sandcastle here or there?
🌏 Self-esteem: Answering small challenges in nature — whether crossing a stream on a fallen log or completing a long hike — can boost a child’s confidence.
🌱 Improved mood: Spending time outdoors has been linked to lower levels of anxiety and depression in children.
🐟 Environmental awareness: When kids play in forests, splash in the ocean or even notice the birds in their own neighborhoods, they begin to appreciate nature and better understand how precious our planet is. And why it's worth protecting.

As a fly-fishing guide, I'm a passionate defender of all salmon, particularly Wild Atlantic Salmon.
Salmon give us so much: healthy ecosystems, precious memories, the inspiration to never give up.
Now more than ever, Wild Atlantic Salmon could use a hero. They are threatened by escapees from the open-net fish farms that also pollute the ocean and damage our ecosystem. Please join me and others trying to save wild Atlantic salmon from extinction.
Stay tuned here as we dive into the fight to save the salmon.

I have fished with my family since I was a little girl, but no matter how many times I cast my line, the feeling is still precious. When you first put your hand in the river and feel that cold, clean water flowing through your fingers, there's something so special about it 🎣
