The Prodigal Son Story:
The parable of the Prodigal Son is found in the Gospel of Luke (Luke 15:11-32) in the New Testament of the Bible. It is a tale of forgiveness, redemption, and unconditional love.
The story begins with a wealthy man who has two sons. The younger son approaches his father and requests his share of the inheritance, essentially asking for his portion of the family wealth before his father's passing. The father, though saddened by his son's request, agrees and divides his property between his two sons.
The younger son then leaves his home and squanders all his wealth in a distant country, living a life of extravagance and indulgence. However, a severe famine strikes the land, and the young man finds himself impoverished and hungry.
Realizing his mistakes and the comfortable life he had left behind, he decides to return to his father's house, hoping to be treated as a hired servant since he believes he is no longer worthy to be called his father's son.
As the son approaches his home, his father, who had been eagerly waiting for his return, spots him from afar. Overwhelmed with joy and compassion, the father runs to his son, embraces him, and orders that a celebration be held in his honor. The father's love and forgiveness are unconditional, despite the son's past mistakes.
However, not everyone is pleased with the father's warm welcome. The elder son, who had remained loyal and dutiful throughout, becomes resentful and refuses to join the festivities. The father tries to reassure him, explaining that his love for both sons remains unwavering.
The parable concludes with the father's message of reconciliation and forgiveness, highlighting the significance of repentance and the boundless love of God.
The story of the Prodigal Son teaches valuable lessons about humility, forgiveness, and the unyielding love of a compassionate father, representing the unconditional love and mercy of God for all His children
